It’s amazing how this show has as many fan clubs as something like Star Trek. And it’s probably because it’s such a quality, wholesome show.

Growing up, I always thought my dad had more than a passing resemblance to Andy. They were both North Carolina boys, though Andy was from the western part of the state and my dad was from the east.
Dad could whistle the theme song, but I don't remember him ever singing the words. I didn't remember the song had words until I heard Andy sing "Get down your fishing pole." Then, it all came back.

Who knew that whistle had lyrics to it
