No Birthday Gifts

I’m clueless at times. I had no idea that my grandson and family would leave so early in the week to go to Quebec for his hockey tournaments.
I texted my daughter-in-law yesterday to tell her to be on the lookout for birthday gifts for my grandson from my hubs and me. They arrived yesterday. She thanked me, but they were already on their way to Canada.

I specifically sent them early so my grandson could open them before he left.
For those who don’t know, his 13th birthday is on Valentine’s Day and he’s goalie for a hockey tournament that’s in another country.
All I can do is text him birthday greetings and wait until he arrives home. Oh, I will wish him good luck, too.
They should have told me when they were leaving

I'm sure there were a lot of things they had to do before they could leave... They didn't mean to forget to let you know they were leaving.
I hope your grandson has a great birthday and does well in the tournament.5 people like this

@DianneN I'm willing to bet they thought they did tell you when you have a chance to visit with them.
I KNOW their schedule would drive me insane.
You're very welcome.

@DaddyEvil Perhaps they did tell me and I forgot. I seem to be getting old-timers lately

I have to agree with you, DE. They were up in Lake Placid for my granddaughter's skating competition for days and my DIL told me that had to get home and turn around for Quebec. All except for my son, who was in Miami. I'm still waiting for photos of the competition and a video which they ordered. They make be dizzy.
Thanks so much! I'm hoping the same.

Oh don't worry, your mind is simply wandering and will be back in a few minutes
Just kidding, I just couldn't resist that remark
Think of it this way, at your age you have stored a really huge amount of memories so your mind has to sift through all that to get to the one you want.

Well, the very best of luck to him and I think that is awesome that he was born on Valentine's Day. It reminds me of the words from the theme to the Mary Tyler Moore Show - love is all around...

He has grown up so fast. Wishing him a great birthday and all the luck for his tournament
. He does look quite grown up and handsome in the picture
I am sure that they must be so busy before leaving..it would have slipped their preoccupied brain.

@arunima25 How frustrating! Your excuse is that you have lots going on all at once.
Good luck finding it.

@DianneN It might be the case. Even I am being forgetful each day. I don't remember where I have kept my small sling pouch with house keys in it. Have been searching it for a while but in vain. I will try to search it again.

13 already?? good grief
where has the time gone? I hope he has a wonderful birthday and of course hoping his team wins the tournament. How dare they leave you out of the loop about when they were leaving

Thanks. They may have mentioned it, but if they did, I didn't process it or am getting old-timers. They have a lot going on. Son was in Miami last week, granddaughter up in Lake Placid for figure skating, and then Quebec. We heard from them last night. I'm so crazed that I ran the same load of dishes twice yesterday!
