sprained ankle

Fortunately, I didn't break any bones, but I do have a Grade II ankle sprain. I'm currently back home wearing a splint and have a referral to see a podiatrist later this week. I'm off work until at least Thursday. At least I have enough PTO to cover that, but we'll see around Wednesday if I need to take off any more time or if I'm recovered enough to stand.
When I called work to let them know what happened, the manager on the phone told me that if I still couldn't stand on Thursday but wanted to work, they could find some sit-down work for me. I didn't even know that would be a possibility!

Phew about it not being a broken bone! I don't know what they do for that kind of sprain, but I sure hope you heal up quickly. Your manager/work is so accommodating to your situation - that is awesome that they care like that!

@spiderdust It's Thursday morning right now . . . how are you doing? I hope your ankle is doing better - at least walking and being able to be out and about.

I have a splint and a podiatry referral, plus I'm off work until Thursday morning. I was amazed that they told me that they'd find something for me to do without standing if needed.

I'm sure sorry you are hurt. Sprains can be forever to heal sometimes, I hope yours heals fast. Just be careful, don't hurry around on it right away. Give it a chance to heal. Maybe you can catch up a bit on your rest, I hope so.

I'll admit, I slept in quite a bit today.

@MarieCoyle Oh, it definitely needed the extra sleep. I could sleep more!

@spiderdust
Sleep is healing, and I am sure your body needed it or you wouldn't have slept late!

@spiderdust Yeah, I know sprains aren't fun, and can be pretty bad. Painful too. but at least it's not a break.

Well, the fall was pretty dramatic. Keep in mind that a sprain usually means that there was a dislocation of the joint, and that ligaments were overstretched and somewhat torn. It's still a significant injury.

@spiderdust At least that is good, though I know it is painful still. I hope you heal quick.

Absolutely. I did talk to the podiatrist office today and scheduled an appointment to be seen, so I'll know more soon regarding the ankle.

I hope you're better by Thursday! And you're lucky! When I had a sprained ankle, Walmart wouldn't let me work until the doctor completely cleared me. Walmart managers said if I sprained it again they didn't want me to sue Walmart over it.

@spiderdust You really do work for a good company now... Even if there are still problems there.

@DaddyEvil Every company, no matter how good they are, is going to have some snags between coworkers sometimes. I felt supported and heard when I talked to the manager about the recent issue.

Very kind of them, but you are a good worker. A well trained employee is worth keeping.

So am I. I had visions of being out of work for weeks, and I'm glad that may not be necessary.

I may look around for some ankle supporting shoes the next time I replace my work shoes.

i hope you recover soon. my daughter also recently sprained her ankle. she had it x-rayed yesterday. the swelling has subsided and she's able to walk okay but will still have to be checked by the school doctor.
