Hello people, good morning. Today I want to tell you about one of the foods from Indonesia, its name is usually called 'pickles'. There are several types of pickles here, usually fresh pickled fruit and pickled vegetables. The recipe is similar, it's just that the contents are different. Okay, because I prefer pickled fruit than pickled vegetables, I'll just discuss pickled fruit here. Do you know what pickled fruit is? Pickled fruit are pieces of several kinds of fresh fruit that are complemented by a sauce with special herbs and spices. The taste is spicy, sweet, sour, salty, and refreshing. I usually make pickled fruit with a mixture of young mango, papaya, pineapple, cucumber, bengkoang, guava, and others. For the seasoning I use raw garlic, raw red chili, raw cayenne pepper, brown sugar or sugar, salt, enough water and lime juice can also be replaced with vinegar. All spices can be mashed using a blender. Then mix the pieces of fruit that have been prepared with the spices earlier, store in the refrigerator for several hours (not at freezer temperature). Serve while cold. Thank you. Picture credits from : Google

I don't eat most pickles but do like green olives. (We usually only call cucumbers prepared like you describe "pickles" but other foods are pickled, too.) Like the green olives I mentioned, we just call them "green olives", not "pickled green olives". I make pickle juice but don't put anything in it. I drink some of it when I get muscle cramps and the cramps are gone right away.

Pickles don't have to be that fruit, we are free to choose the fruit we like, such as apples, grapes, pomegranates, can also be made pickled.

@sol_cee You can mix it with other fruit too. I once made pickled mango, pineapple, bengkoang, papaya, cucumber all together. The more mix the better.

@astutimeliana723 I think I can stand pickle cucumber as I like pickle cucumber, but I don't think I would like pickle fruits. Wouldn't it be too sour then?

@Adie04 If you don't like sour, you don't need to add vinegar or lime juice.

Most of the pickles taste sour. But you can also make just one type of pickle, for example just pineapple, just rambutan, just longan, just cucumber, and so on as you like.
