Eating raw beetroot

I have been eating beetroot for a while now by steaming it. But I understand the best way is to eat raw beetroot as the nutrients remain intact.
Today I grated a piece of raw beetroot and ate it mixed with curds and sugar I liked the taste but being raw it was a bit hard on the teeth even though it was grated.
What bothers me is it fine eating it raw. Will there be germs that only die with boiling or steaming.
Your views and suggestions please.

I usually eat a piece of steamed beet. Juice would mean may be a large sized one. If raw beet is safe then I would prefer grated.

@allknowing I know it's safe to eat raw beets. When I was a kid and my grandfather had plenty in his garden we always had them raw.

@Icydoll Reading through recommendations on the Net most say around 150 grams is sufficient per day A large sized beetroot is around 400/500 grams

A dip in boiling water is what I have decided to do before grating it

I am thinking of putting the whole beetroot in boiling water and then grate it

@JudyEv Not boiling - I used to steam it - but just putting the beet in water that is boiled and keep in it for a minute or so.

@allknowing Good idea but I think maybe boiling them would boil out some of the goodness, same as with other vegetables.

I remember when somebody gave me a bunch of fresh beetroot and I tried to cook it by boiling it. People say you should not cut the leaves too near the root because all the colour will drain from the beetroot while cooking. This will cause the beetroot to come out nearly white. I managed to cook my beetroot and keep all the colour but the water in the pan had boiled over and there was red juice all over the top of my cooker.

I have always seamed in the pressure cooker The water does not come in contact with the beet. There is a collander on which the beet is placed. But steamed or boiled it loses many of its nutrients

I ate it today. Juice could be better but one needs atleast one large beetroot for that.
