With the way inflation and prices are right now across the board, a lot of people are stocking up when they find deals/ or have extra money. One of the first things I plan on doing when we get our refund is to stock the pantries and our deep freeze as well as the regular fridge and freezer.
This means canned veggies, canned fruits, beans, rice, pastas and snack foods. I also am going to check Sam's Club and Winn Dixie for meats that I can freeze and meal plan with.
Most people know that I cook as much as possible. So our stock up will probably vary from what most people stock u in, but the base staple things that people stock up on are probably very similar for everyone who does stockpile. Rice, pasta, beans, dry goods that can be used as a base for meals.
So I have started making our stock up list. Are you someone who stockpiles things? What are the first things you stockpile when you get a chance? What is something that you try to never run out of?

I agree that it is a good thing to do. If we could afford to I would do the same.

@thislittlepennyearns We use an electric Champion juicer to make peanut butter. Hubby used to make p b in the blender but I think he had to use oil when he did it that way. With the juicer we do not add anything but peanuts.

Price hikes and shortages are making stockpiling a necessity. With the government extorting more money from us, we don't get tax returns either. Stockpiling is difficult when one lives paycheck to paycheck. But as much as possible, we have been doing that since last summer. Many suggest purchasing from My Patriot Supply and the like, but their prices are outrageous.

I run my pantry and household stuff like a business and keep an inventory, track prices, and shop according to who has the best price—always. And I have always done it this way. In times like these there are many items I simply will not buy unless I absolutely must.

Coupons and cash back websites and Apps make it so that I can still buy the things that would be deemed non neccesities.

@thislittlepennyearns Coupons have never worked for me. Every single time I have ever tried to use one there was something cheaper right next to it. So, I stopped clipping them because all I was doing was leaving them on the shelf for someone else to use if they wanted to waste their money.
I shop price and price only. And if an app gives me an edge great. But if it doesn't? I'm just wasting money to feel like I am saving something.
That is just how I see it. Doesn't mean the situation is the same for everyone. One of the things I love to to poopoo is when someone says, "I got a great deal on this." I ask, "Did you need it?" "No, but I couldn't pass it up for that price. I got a deal."
"No, hon. If you did not need it, even if it was a good price, you got suckered and you did not save anything at all." lol
The STORE got a good deal. But you, my friend, fell for the oldest trick in the book.

Besides basic items to bake and cook with, spices and so forth, make a list of maybe 2 weeks worth of meals that your family truly likes to eat. Put the ingredients for those meals on your list, possibly buying enough to make the meals more than once if your family really enjoys them. Keep plenty of flour, sugar if you use a lot of it, things to do basic baking with. I always keep some dehydrated eggs as well as egg replacer for baking if eggs are really high. They work fine in baking. Yes, you are so right, rice, pasta, beans, you are a busy mom, so stock some sauces you can toss on pasta in a hurry if you need to. It's not the healthiest to eat canned sauces all the time, but it beats the cost of fast food when you're tired and hungry. Don't forget the paper goods you use, as well as cleaning products, dish soap, and so forth. It takes a lot of planning and such to run a home, doesn't it? But to be able to go to the pantry and freezer for ingredients to throw a meal together is priceless. Good way to spend your extra money, for sure.

I'd have to say soda is one of the big things for us. Along with a few other things. Salad fixings are a big thing for George.

With just the two of us, I don't bother to stockpile too much. There doesn't seem to be much point for us. We do buy extra meat if there is a good deal going and we freeze that.
