There is a lot of misinformation about herbs, their effectiveness, and their side effects. Experts have proven more and more that some herbs can help in fighting cancer. When it comes to cancer we cannot have too many weapons to fight this killer. Here are several herbs that have been proven to be cancer fighters:
Ginger- Different compounds found in ginger have both tumor-destroying properties and anti-cancer strength. Research in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine on gingerol, shogaol, paradol, and zerumbone in ginger show that these compounds may help in treating
prostate, liver, breast, colorectal, skin, and gastric cancers.
Oregano-In the Journal of Medicinal Food there was information about early studies finding that the 4-terpineol in oregano is good in stilling the spread of cancers.
St. John's Wort- This herb has proven to be a great help in depression and research in Plos One, an online medical journal, finds that hypericin, an active ingredient in the herb is highly effective in treating melanoma.
Licorice- A compound found in licorice known as glabridin stops the liver cancer cells from turning on or gene expression. It is not the only compound found in this herb that is effective against cancer these help in digestive and breast cancers.
Parsley- This herb, used mostly for garnish, is also a natural cancer remedy. In the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, it says that research has shown that parsley works as an antioxidant and protects DNA from damage that can lead to cancer as well as destroying free radicals.
Horsetail- In the Journal of Medicinal Food research finds that horsetail stops the proliferation of cancer cells. Along with mushroom chaga it was found to be effective in reducing leukemia tumors and lymphoma by 33 percent.
Plantain- This herb is found in nearly every lawn in North America. In the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research has shown that this herb suppresses the growth of cancer cells in the human body.
Milk Thistle- This herb has been found to be a great liver protector. Silymarin in milk thistle works on cancer in several ways and reduces liver cancer.
The herbs mentioned above are available in both dried, capsule, or tincture forms.

I use some of those herbs in my dishes, although I did not know that they were good against cancer. My grandma made some delicious parsley fritters when I was a child.

Most people in Latvia keep herbs on hand for all kinds of illnesses or even stomach upsets and do not rely on OTC medications. If needed I also prefer natural to chemical, Thank you for the info,

I used to have a substantial herb garden just outside my backdoor. Not so anymore. I do grow a few but have so little room now.

You should always consult a doctor before taking any of these supplements as they could be dangerous or interact with medications that you are taking.

Very smart to do so. Also, some people are more sensitive to certain things too.

I have always felt that mother nature has given us everything we need. It's just that a lot of the information has been suppressed in favor of profits

Interesting info. I would do some close reading about St. John's Wort before taking it though.

As you should with any of them before using. Usage of St. John's Wort has been questioned for several years.
