Must've caught the stomach bug

Since I found out that a sushi and hibachi buffet opened up near my house I've wanted to go there. Finally went there last Saturday night with hubby. The sushi was nothing special. The hibachi I didn't try but there wasn't much there for me to choose from for the guy to make. There was a lot of stuff I couldn't eat at the buffet, as I don't eat pork or seafood, but I did find some things I could eat that I liked. I enjoyed what I was eating, minus the miso soup. That wasn't good. Overall, the food was nothing to rave about but it wasn't bad either. I don't know if it was the end of the day but the place didn't seem super clean to me... And all the plates that they put out for people to use were always a bit wet. The buffet was not cheap. I don't remember the exact price but it was in the mid to high $20s per person. And that didn't include tax. Before we were ready to go hubby got thirsty and decided to get a soda. Turned out it is not included in the cost. He had to pay $2.99 + tax for it, which turned out to be a waste of money as he didn't even drink a lot of it. I was feeling fine after the buffet and on Sunday too but then Monday I was not well. I felt really nauseous and had an upset stomach. Went to the bathroom way more than usual and vomited a lot, four times during the day. It wasn't a pretty sight. That bucket sure came in handy, especially when I had to do both things at once. I had diarrhea the next day and still felt a bit nauseous but no more vomiting. My stomach was not back to normal either. I am better now but not completely. Slept a lot during these days and didn't eat as much. I think I must've caught the stomach bug and think that going to the buffet is what caused it. I am not sure that I will ever go back to this buffet again... I'd rather travel somewhere else if I ever want a buffet dinner.

It sounds more like you had a mild case of food poisoning. Just one bite of "old" food could do that to you. It's good that the dishes were a little wet. That means they just came out of a dishwasher with the "drying cycle" turned off. At least they were clean. I hope you feel completely better quickly. I had wondered where you were hiding.

It is weird but when I see water on the dishes I wonder if they were really cleaned.

@lovebuglena Honestly, there's no telling... I ate some noodles once years ago that caused a mild case of food poisoning. I agree, it wasn't fun. I hate to throw up.

I wonder what it was that I ate that caused this... Vomiting is no fun. I am glad it was only one day.

Yeah, it does seem like the proximity of the meal and the illness sort of put two and two together. Based on the description of your entire experience, I don't think I would want to ever return either.

I hope it wasn't the miso soup that did it for me 'cause I love miso soup.

@porwest I had miso soup yesterday from a different place. Seemed rather sweet for me. Weird. Only had a little and threw away the rest.

@lovebuglena Well, even if it was the miso soup, not all miso soups are created equally, so I'd not be worried about having it again. Just somewhere else.

My birthday was December 24th. Guess I confused you when I said my birthday is also on the 24th.

Could it have been food poisoning? I hope you feel better soon. Have a good weekend.

Perhaps it was. I only threw up one day. And diarrhea only the next day. And that was it. My stomach wasn't totally fine though for more than a few days.

@LindaOHio Until this time around I don't remember how long it's been since I've been to a buffet.

There is none where I live. We do not eat that much so it would be a waste of money for us.

We definitely do not eat as much as we used to. What I like about going to a buffet is that you can try a little bit of many different things. And it doesn't cost a fortune.

Oh no. I'm sorry. I just read about a Vietnamese restaurant closing due to over 30 customers getting ill. Seattle area.
