I have been reading lately how people are making buccoo bucks on ebooks or what have you on Amazon, books written by AI, GPChat or what ever it is. Is this like the .com era? Am I missing out on a great money making scheme? Scheme, is that the right word? Is anyone here using it for monetary gain and if so what are you doing? I am very interested in this topic.

I have wondered about this also. I have three children's stories that I wrote. I would love to publish them. I have a friend who is a wonderful artist and she said she would do the illustrations. Should I try and see what happens?

@RebeccasFarm I have never heard of Al until now. I am going to start checking into this and see if there are more ways to self publish. Then I will go from there.

I like it sometimes, the tech era, but I still want to keep myself away from technology because it could makes you away from social life as well.

@RebeccasFarm So, are we going to be writers and authors and publish books with ChatGPT then?

No, and I wouldn't. It's cheating, besides that I wouldn't know how to go about it.

@RebeccasFarm I saw the creator being interviewed. He mentioned some good applications, but I don't remember what they were.

I wouldn't do it either cheating I mean but I wonder if there are other ways to use it to make good.

Scheme - I would likely believe that. They call this technology a "tool", but obviously people figured out how to use it as a monetary tool. I don't like this - it affects artists too.

Oh I hate that creative people have worked so hard to sell their works only to be outdone by some scheming people.

@RebeccasFarm That's the thing. In that sense I think many are against it at the moment . . . but money always talks. It'll be sad if this puts out a lot of creative industries in the long run.

There are several problems with books written by GTPChat and other AI. The first is, they are terrible reads. Bland, static, repetitive. The second is that nearly every word, phrase, and sentence in them has been plagiarized from other work on the internet because that's what AI does. It mines the internet for already existing work and presents it as new.

So essentially it is just copying humans

I think there are a lot of Facebook stories using it. Suddenly, there are no writing errors. They are just as boring as before but the author is not really the author, IMHO. I am concerned because I know AI will be used for scam posts and people will think they are legit because there won't be any errors that you are told to look for to judge if posts are scams or not. I was wondering if I am missing out, too. I heard that AI posts and stories are considered spam, but who can prove it?

Yes where is the proof exactly. It really is a deep pit of confusion at this time. No doubt it will just keep getting more of this JoAnn.

@RebeccasFarm Sometimes I wonder why I am bothering to write since the machines do it so much faster. I have not tried this yet. I am wondering if you can let the bot write your story and you go back and edit it and make it more personal. I have a moral issue with that though.

There will always be people who can take advantage of new money making opportunities, because they are fearless. And then, there are the rest of us, the majority, who are trying to do everything to "right way".

To me, using AI and GPChat to write books and publish them is cheating. It's sad that technology is used in this way.
