Getting closer

United States
March 19, 2023 1:33pm CST
I got on the scale this morning. I'm always pleased to see any weight loss, but once I get close to the 200 lb (90.77 kg) mark, I start getting excited. Since I got out of the military at the end of 1989, my weight continued to climb and stay in the 200-250 lb range. I did get down to under 200 lb in December 2019, shortly after returning from Aruba. By April 2020, I was at 185 lb/<84 kg. However, that's when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, isolation began, I had a foot injury which prevented me from being able to walk, and then my dog, Honey, started on a spiral downward and there was a lot of stress eating on my part. It did not take long to get back into the 200 level. This morning, I weighed 201.8 lb/91.53 kg. I am right around the corner to being under that level. It is clear to me that by walking, I get more benefit than just reducing the number of calories I take in. In fact, there are some times that I eat more than I do when I'm trying to lose weight through dieting alone, and I lose weight. I just wanted to share for this morning.

Thank you, eva! I just want to get down to where I want to be and then forget about it and just do what I know I need to do. If I lose anything after that, then that's where I'm supposed to be if I don't, that's okay too.

I can sense that feeling. I always struggled with weight gain and was on lean side. But then with all exercises and protein rich diet I have gained..Now I need to stop here. Loosing two kgs would be good. That would be ideal weight for me.

@LadyDuck I have the contrast MRIs done quite often, and I don't get dizzy. I've learned to relax in them and be able to take my mind away a little bit, if that makes sense? Yet, still be present. Because you have to be able to follow the instructions. It's not something I like doing as I am a bit claustrophobic, but I'm learning to be able to almost meditate through it and still do what I need to do. Almost like a hypnosis. I have been thinking about him and you a lot the last couple of days. Please know that my heart is with you.

@TheSojourner GGC has been "inside" the MRI machine during 45 minutes yesterday. He is still dizzy because of the MRI contrast agent they dripped during the whole procedure. Let's see what the result will be.

That's so awesome! I'm close too but haven't been trying much lately with all the stress, being sick and achy. Walking does help a lot in loss.

You're doing great Coral. I'm hanging around 200. I'd like to get back to 180-185 but I'm not stressing about it after several years of having serious issues with appetite, eating, and keeping things down. My pants still fit so I'm fine with it for now.

Thank you, jill. I'm not stressing it either, but I'm just doing what I know is good for me. I need to stay healthy, and 180-185 is my goal, as well.

And in this one month since writing this, I am hovering between 201.4 and 202.6. It's frustrating. I hope it's just a plateau and that it drops soon. Thank you.

@LindaOHio and I have put some weight back on in the last couple of weeks, but I'm not going to worry about it. Wait naturally fluctuates. It's about making the right choices and just continuing.

Losing weight can be so hard for some of us. I struggled for years--lose 5-10 pounds and put it back on. I lost that same weight over and over again, so very frustrating. As I have stated, I love to cook, and I love food! I do think that it took me to truly wake up, my love of food just led me down that ''Let's eat!'' path daily. You are doing so well. I am very proud of you and your persistence! Good job!

Well done, you must feel so pleased with yourself. I too am losing weight, this year I have lost over a stone so now around 10 stone 4 pounds ish, keeps going up and down. Really want to get back to 9 stone 6 pounds which is what I was in February 2019. It wasn't covid that made me put on weight, I do this every so often gain. I have fallen off the wagon big time this time and need to get back on track, need to lose about an inch and a bit round my middle and then I shall be able to get in the next size down jeans I have. We can do this together, we stand strong together and help each other along the way. Let's finish this journey together
