My mum visited me recently and she suggested she takes the old black winter coat from my late grandma with her and donate it.
I felt reluctant, even though I didn't wore it much but when she mentioned granny died in 2006 and that she wore coat before her death and that it's probably 20 years old, i was in shock. Not just for coat, for hearing at loud that my grandma is dead for 17 years. Her death anniversary was on March 8. I kind of never acknowledged that; kept her alive constantly in my dreams and memories.
I am bad with numbers in general.

thank you but brought me back to reality. also, it's mu mum's mum and she has more right.and every time we go to the village where my granny lived, when i got back from the capital city, we look at her house, what it used to be;mum and her brother sold it. memories, right?

@1creekgirl my aunt usually gets the clothes and neighbours so, we will see. i still have a dark pink scarf that she made from the wool for me. i cherish that too. thank you.

glad that i am not the only one with such math skills. well, this is my mum's mum's coat and i respect her wish. there are many needy people, you know? it would go to good hands. i still have rosemary and religious things from my granny, photos too. but, 17years shocked me more. that bang of reality.

i mean.i think she, my granny would have wanted that it goes to good hands and it shall or it will stay at my mother's closet cause, it was her mum only, i knew the numbers but saying it aloud, it stunned me. so many years without someone.

@sallypup only when you lose someone you cherish them more.i was devastatedwhenwe spent first easter without her. i stormed out from my parents' house and drove 4km by a bike.iwas both mad and sad.

@coldplay8 I have never taken a course in algebra in the former Canal Zone in Panama either. In the U S I flopped big time.

Memories don´t deal with numbers. As for the age of clothes, I have some favorite clothes that are more that 2 decades old and others that I give away almost new because they are not for me.

Sometimes it's hard to keep up with how long ago things happened. The farther away from the event, the harder it is to keep track of how many years it's been, even birthdays. Today is my grandson's 31st birthday. I had to do the math to remember how old he was.

@coldplay8 Same with me too. I may not good with remembering faces of people. But names, once I learn them, it's hard for me to forget the names. But once I am familiar with the people faces, it's hard for me to forget them as well.

sometimes I lose count. It is not just for my grandparents who all have expired. But I am so overburdened with office work I forget a lot of things.

I'm sorry for the loss of your grandma. I think even though she has been gone from this earthly realm for 17 years she is with you still in the spiritual fashion.
