Nightmare journey today.

What a nightmare journey we had today.
We decided as it was a nice day that we would drive the 33 miles up the road to see my friend Paul.
And for the first 20 miles it was awesome.
Then Infront of me I spotted a tailback of traffic which was quite long.
We joined the end of it
And we only moved three miles in two hours and then had to take a diversion and took almost another hour and a half to get to Paul's house.

17 vehicle pile up.
Road closed for hours both ways.
Car flew into a tree.
Countless police, ambulances, fire service vehicles.
Quite spectacular when I saw it on the news.
Here is a picture of a part of it.
The link above goes into what happened today.

Very true. Here's a Steve Goodman song to celebrate "not being in the accident."
@Fourwalls may add John Prine's The Accident to the mix. If she doesn't I will.
Be sure to ask me about how the guy on the right in the album cover photo and my stereo are related!

It was ok coming home.
Exactly half an hour it took.
No sign of a car in a tree either.

It happened hours before we were in that area.
Funny thing was the road was open again when we came home and there was no sign of any crash at all

I think the flying car hit a kerb and just took off into the air.
Must have been going at some speed

The accident happened two hours before we had even left home.
The traffic tailback had some really bad tempered driver's lol.
I told one guy to take a chill pill
I looked around again and he had lit up a joint.

We hardly ever get stuck in traffic here.
Our roads in Scotland are ok and traffic flows well outside of rush hour.
so this today was a nasty shock.

We got back home on record time though and in the dark on wet roads.

@JimBo452020 You're a bad European! lol
It still blows my mind that the US hasn't fully converted over to the metric system like the rest of the world. Some things here are in metric, but most is still in the old English measurement system, or standard measurement system, or whatever the hell it's called. We definitely still measure in miles, that's for sure.

@JimBo452020 - I did not know that Aberdeen people are called sheep shaggers. I think that all countries have funny nicknames for people living in some places.

It was so bad that it made the Oil Capital of Europe cut off from the South for hours.

Wow! Must be serious injuries for those in the car. Sucks to be stuck in traffic but better than getting caught in a fender bender or worse.

@JimBo452020 People really shouldn't talk on the phone while driving. Worse yet they shouldn't be texting or writing emails while driving. I think my brother does all that. And he will be steering with his knees while doing that.
