A couple of years ago my wife bought me a drone while she was out shopping. I had been wanting one for a while but didn't want to spring for one. Cheap me. It wasn't much. About $20 or so she paid for it.
I opened it up, took it into the backyard and set it on the patio table, hit the button and "vvvvvvvrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee.....," it shot straight into the air and disappeared.
That was it. Not even 20 seconds.
Now, just the other day, on the Metro East Crime page someone posted finding one in their backyard not far from where I live.
I'll bet that's my drone. lol

Very slow drone. It took couple of years to land into nearby backyard
or did it travel long and came back crashing near you

My guess is that it probably went miles and miles into the air when it happened. I literally could no longer see it. Because they are so light I am sure it hung in the air having caught the wind and just traveled as far as the wind would carry it before it finally lost momentum and crashed somewhere. I don't think any amount of effort to find it would have been fruitful. That baby was GONE! LOL

I bought my son a mid-priced drone for his birthday several years ago. He promptly went outside to try it out and immediately got it stuck in a tree way too high up for us to get down. It is still stuck up in the tree to this day. lol

lol. I imagine one could put together an entire and very long book detailing all the follies one has run into with those damn things. Hell of a business though. I mean, if people keep destroying and losing them...presumably that's good for business.

@moffittjc Thanks. That was a bit of a long one. 5 months or something like that. Have I missed much?

Why didn't it fly back to you?

@porwest But isn't there a remote control button that does that? That lets you maneuver it back to you?

That's the end of a lot of drones. Vreeeeeee and they crash into the garage door or they disappear. Sorry you lost yours.
