This is a song entitled "The Truth Untold". Some of the verses of this song go. "You know that I can’t Show you me Give you me I can’t show you a ruined part of myself Once again I put a mask on and go to see you But I still want you." Lyrics courtesy of Big Hit Music. For me, I understand that the person is in love and had to put on a mask to hide his imperfections so that his beloved would love him back. What about you? How do you interpret the verses?

Doesn't to me sound like they are hiding imperfections but parts of who they are. Lots of people mask things like their feelings from the ones they love so it doesn't hurt or even parts of their personality to the point of illness as well. Honestly, you won't what the lyrist meant unless you hear it from them directly. Not all singers actually write their songs that is why Lyristis have jobs.

I see your point. However, these guys write their own lyrics. You have gotten the interpretation right. If you're interested here's the whole version of the song. Thank you.

@ShyBear88 Yes, the listener/viewer can interpret the songs based on his own unique experiences, and that's okay. That's how they like their music to be interpreted.

@Jenaisle Not even experience is required to interpret your own version of the song. You can interrupt the words as each one means, you can take it by lines or even groups to interrupt the meaning or a story. Sometimes a song is just a song. If you want Ring around the rose is about the black pledge and the symports and what doctors wore.

@RubyHawk Yes, if he continues to do so, but I assumed that in the end, he decided to let go and reveal everything about himself. That's entirely my conclusion, so...

@Jenaisle Maybe but he could be hiding something that would break up the relationship.

They are hiding part of who they are which is not good at all. You need to be honest in a relationship.

Yeah he is fibbing..meaning he is covering up a part of himself, not to show it to the lover he wants.

I interpret in the sense that the person "wears a mask" not to show his real temper to please the one she/he loves.

Sounds like there is a part of him that he thinks she won't like and he does not want her to know that part of him, So he does not reveal his true self,

This person cannot share all of what he/she is which is a shame and is not good in a solid relationship.

I think so too. He tries to be someone he is not for his beloved.

We should not hide in relationship. Honesty is the main in a relationship. Imperfections should be accepted.
