What I Miss About Walking the Sands

When we lived only 50 steps from the ocean, I was able to forage in the sand to my heart's content.
Finding sea glass was what I would do.
My favorite piece was a huge pink one I had found one morning early.
Have you ever looked for it along the ocean side?
I had many pieces at one time.
They are lost to me now, I cannot remember where they disappeared to moving states.
It can be purchased online, but it is not the same thing as looking and finding it.

@LadyDuck The locals there told me that many years ago, there was a bottling factory near there across the sea. So when it closed many bottles got washed away to sea and then the result was the sea glass.

@RebeccasFarm I wonder how it is that you have so many pieces of glass on your beaches.

Somewhere in the countless storage boxes I have, there is a large piece of emerald green sea glass I found on the beach as a kid. It's roughly in the shape of a cube, and is about 4"x3"x2" in size, with very smooth polished sides and edges. I've kept it all these years. I wish I knew where it was so that I could display it. It's definitely a conversation starter.

@RebeccasFarm I'll try to find it when I get the time. I know my son had it when he was little, and at one point my wife's little sister had it, but it did make it back into my possession at some point. Now I just gotta remember what I did with it.

Love walking along the sands all year round.
When the children were young we used to dash down on a Friday nigh, have a fish and chip supper in this fab cafe, walk along the beach either in sunlight or lamp light, then go and do the 2p slot machines.
In the summer we used to paddle and collect shells, never saw any sea glass.
So sorry you no longer near the sea and can't find your sea glass.
How far do you have to travel to get to the sea now?
The theatre at the seaside used to do a pantomine on NewYear's Day which we would go to, doesn't do it now
But love going to the seaside on the 1st January

I wish I could live near the sea too. That is one of the things on my bucket list. It has been decades since we went home to my husband's hometown where the sea was just a block away. For the time that we were there, I collected smooth sea stones too. And the rounded, white stone, in which I wrote my name and my husband's, and the date is still here with me.

I am sure I have picked that up before, but I don't have any now. I have a storage locker that contains all kinds of things. It could be there. The Great Lakes have some of that as well. Same sort of pounding wave action.

I used to collect different seashells when I was younger. Then I would say to myself, what are you going to do with all these shells?
