Was out in the yard yesterday and earlier this morning. I see the Lilacs are trying to bloom very soon. They usually bloom in early to mid April. Not much longer now. I was afraid the weather had gotten the best of them. But looks like they will survive another year.
These are the first to bloom in Dustin's garden each year. Roses will be here eventually.
Found a few surprises in the yard. And more blooms will appear soon. Today the temperature is back in the 80's. Too warm for my taste. Ceiling fans are all on. Severe storms headed this way later today. Hoping for the best.
Wishing you all a great day and rest of the week. Enjoying spring in my yard.

Yes it is warm and usually it is later in the season before we get 80s. And the humidity is so uncomfortable. More rain storms are headed this way this evening to cool things off. We will get around 100 during the summer months. Thank you!

Yes they are nice, I keep saying i want to plant more and I put it off each year. Camellia was my Dad's favorite. He had a huge tree he estimated about 75 feet tall. Sadly the cutting I took when he passed did not make it. Love those blooms in the winter.

I’m sure Dustin’s garden will look amazing when all the lilacs and roses are in bloom. The magnolia tree in my front yard is blooming and it’s covered in flowers right now. Oh, and our temps here in north Florida are already hitting the mid-90s.

@CarolDM I swore I heard on the radio this morning on my way to work that one of the upcoming days we’re only going to have highs in the 60s I’ll have to look it up on the weather app.

Lilacs are pretty, but I breathe better when they're fake. 71°F, thunderstorm, with showers
Likely. Also breezy.

Garden is a place for surprises but disappointments too. There were no potatoes found when digging up. (lol)

@CarolDM Potatoes need a cool climate and we do not get that here Just because they sprouted in storage I planted them.

@allknowing We always had potatoes in our garden growing up. We had hot summers. I remember in the fall, when it was a little cooler, we would dig potatoes. We loved doing that as a child.

My lilacs are in back of the house and I forget to check their progress. I would be surprised if mine are bidding yet although the temps this week have been warmer than normal for April. Today was in the high eighties but Monday is supposed to get down to a high of forty.
I did notice today that trees are beginning to bid which usually happens closer to May.
Enjoy the activity in your yard.

@CarolDM I'll have to check them out before the weather gets cold again tomorrow as I'm hoping the new growth around town makes it through the cold snap but I'm not sure.
I don't think we're supposed to get a frost though so that should help.

@MarshaMusselman Our cold snaps lately has delayed the blooms here.

Yes, and so humid. But with the rain later we are suppose to cool back into the 60s. Not sure about the lilacs. I have never tried that before. I just wait for them to bloom. The weather has been so back and for the this year. Great idea.

Ours here are not going to bloom yet, but they do show promise of it happening in a week or two...I'm waiting. I love lilacs.
If the weather stays nice this week I am going to be very brave and plant some cold-weather type of things, radishes, spinach, lettuce...we shall see.
Have a great day, Carol.
