Not to be picky

There are some sites where I read gossipy type articles. My guilty pleasure. I dislike that whoever farms out or selects these articles definitely does not edit them. I am American and I speak American English, as do the writers, except many of them have not gotten the knack of gendered pronouns. In their culture there is not a distinction between he and she, or him and her. An article will be well enough translated and the juicy gossip/petty revenge will be fun and entertaining until they start switching and sometimes the focus is him, sometimes her, but always the same person. So a typical sentence might read "I was going to the store, and ready to park when this little sports car drove right around me. He was speeding, and laughing, and then she got out, gestured at me and went happily inside. I blocked him in and she was incredibly mad. She keyed my car. I hope the police can find him." My old mind has a hard time with this. Surely the websites that pay freelancers to write this gossipy stuff could at least set up some editing parameters.

Some languages don't really bring out the difference in the gender pronouns

No, they don't, so English editors should help smooth things out.

There are several languages that don't make a distinction between gendered pronouns... I just ignore it and make a guess at the targeted person's gender. *shrug*

@GardenGerty That part doesn't matter. You should read whatever you feel is fun to read.

Things sure have changed. Nowadays it just doesn't seem to matter. When I was young it was very important to do things the excepted way.

I believe the authors do what is customary or accepted in their culture, but since it is being published in English someone should be proofreading it and getting those pronouns to agree and make sense.

When I read your example all I could think is what 5-year-old wrote this? They really ought to have better proofreaders on something as simple as keeping the pronouns proper. I understand why that would be hard to read

Oh gosh that would make it confusing to read. It should be checked better before being published.

Content mills often just grind things out as fast as they can to fill pages. No real proof reading or editing.

Who really knows where the articles come from? I enjoy celebrity gossip, but there are certain sites that are just spammy. I have to double or triple check things if I want to see if it is true.

Ohhh, I have seen this around too - drives me nuts! I can understand places like this where we're just chatting, but I'd expect respectable websites to proofread their stuff.

Sometimes here we get gender confused because we have generic names. Yes the criss-crossing of gender, sometimes with no antecedents does make me crazy.

That is just how their language flows. It is genuine on their part, but confusing to me.

Oh my, this sentence makes no sense. Was the person a "SHE", or a "HE"? I think this person is confused and surely English is not his (her) native language.

That is right. It is not their native language. If that same person was here on myLot though, we would be told not to correct them.

@GardenGerty Exactly, we have been told not to criticize users for bad or broken English, but Admin steps in if there are phrases that make no sense.

I often find grammatical and other mistakes online, So I always take extra pains to make sure what I post is just as it should be, I cannot answer for the mistake online but at least perhaps someone comparing and reading will see that my articles are worth the bother. I always thought wouldn't it be great to get a job editing online material? Each day you are given so much to look over and correct and get paid,

A coworker who married someone from another country confirmed that his wife did indeed speak that way, so I am not surprised.

@GardenGerty That is true. When Entertainment Tonight, I was in 8th grade. I watched it and read magazines like Tiger Beat until college, when I decided the only thing I needed to know about celebrities was the time and date their TV shows aired, which theater was playing their movie, and how much Ticketron was charging for tickets to their games or shows.
