Tree Cutter on the Trail

I made this picture of a guy cutting trees on my walk this morning. The trail was blocked to walkers so I turned and walked back down the trail. Those guys must have nerves of steel to climb so high with nothing to hold them but a safety belt. I could barely see him. I hope you can see him in the picture.

They should get good pay for this. I'm not able to climb into high situations.

They really should be paid well, but I’d bet their pay is only average.

A very dangerous job indeed. Hanging on trees pose a risk of stepping on a wrong branch that may break and make you fall. Although I know that they have safety harness when they do that so I guess they are confident doing that stunts.

@RubyHawk He is wearing a yellow rope around his waist. That's the harness, in my opinion. I had a near-falling incident onto a tree when I was a child. My leg slid as I stepped on what I thought would be a hard branch, but it wasn't. Fortunately, I was able to grab hold of another branch and stop myself from falling any farther.

@rsa101 I liked to climb trees as a youngster. I’d climb up and sit on a limb to read where the other kids wouldn’t bother me.

It’s a dangerous job but they do have harnesses, but as I look again at the picture, I don’t see a harness.

@kaylachan They cut trees in our complex several months ago and I hated it . One needed to be cut but The others were fine as far as I could see. The tree in the picture is in our complex but down on the nature trail.

That tree looks slender - quite dangerous for someone to climb up there.

Last year when they cut trees out front. They had a machine that reached up in the tree and cut it down piece by pieces. The first time I’d seen that.
