Day 277
(Proverbs 11:10-11) When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there is jubilation. By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
There have been many occasions for jubilation. You celebrate when things go right, when you see justice for criminals and when governments act in the people’s best interest instead of themselves. However, when you elect people to an office on false promises, and when elected show their true colors and bring about the destruction of a city, no one rejoices.
Solomon, in his wisdom, showed what happens when righteous people fulfill their promises, the city rejoices. There is a blessing and great jubilation. But when the wicked take office, nobody rejoices.
You see a lot of that in the world today. Nobody trusts their government because they know the government doesn’t work for the good of the people. They prove that the moment they take office. Then the complaints arise, and people condemn instead of rejoicing.
As Christians, you need to show you are a person of integrity. When you speak, you back up what you say. Give people a reason for hope. Let them know you can be counted on when they need your help. Then people will celebrate, and everyone will receive a blessing because you are a person of your word, working on behalf of the people.
Let’s pray: Father, let me be a person of my word, a person of integrity. Let people rejoice when they see me because I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
