Day 281
(Proverbs 14:10) The heart knows its own bitterness and a stranger does not share its joy.
Life is full of bitter situations that tear apart the soul. Only people going through the situation, whether death or disease, job loss, or financial ruin, know how they truly feel. No matter how much the person feels, another person cannot know the true depth of the heartache or the joy it brings a person.
Solomon indicated that even in bitter situations, the heart can feel a joy no stranger could understand.
When Christians face troubling circumstances, they have hope and joy that someone without faith cannot understand. They know God saves a person through death, heals, and delivers diseases that threaten a person’s life, and provides income when everything looks impossible. No matter what you face, when you have Jesus living inside you, you have hope and joy when life becomes bittersweet.
You cannot face bitter situations without prayer and the knowledge God will hear and answer. When loved ones die, instead of mourning, there is joy. When people recover from diseases that should result in death, there is joy unspeakable for God’s favor. God’s favor rests in your faith in Him. It’s knowing that your loved one will see the face of God and rest in His arms when they pass from this life. It’s feeling God’s presence in those last moments of life. It’s knowing God will meet your needs in His way and in His time in ways only He could provide.
What are you facing? Take it to God in prayer and watch Him turn your mourning into dancing and your sorrow into joy.
Let’s pray: Father, You know what I’m facing. You know the heartache I feel in the depths of my soul. Take my sorrow and turn it into joy. Show me Your favor because I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
