Day 288 (Proverbs 20:7) The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. How many honest people do you know? Can you trust people to do what they say? You want to trust your friends and neighbors. You want to think the person who makes claims about themselves is honest and upright. Yet there is always a niggling of doubt. Solomon said a righteous man, (one who trusts God), walks with integrity, is honest, and his children are blessed because of his honesty. Christians need to be discerning about the people they associate with, even among other Christians. Jesus said you will know people by their fruit. (Matthew 7:15-20) Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits, you will know them. People who brag about their Christianity and the work they do for the kingdom will soon show what type of Christian they are. Braggarts are rarely men of integrity. They don’t live up to their claims. A man of integrity is one who lives a life of service to God. He is helpful, uncomplaining, and ready to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever it’s needed. Solomon said God would bless their children. Children see what their parents do and want to imitate them. If their parents are men and women of integrity, they will also be men and women of integrity. They will find God’s blessing in their lives. Are you a person of integrity?
