Catch Cry Clause: " I don't eat that mackerel scads because...

...they are only for cats." This is what my father's youngest brother told my mom before. He is an arrogant soul and deliberately mocked my mom for frying mackerel scads, or 'galunggong' (Philippines). It was a catch-cry clause that I cannot forget at such an early age. According to him, he does not eat them because they are only for cats. Whoah! One time I saw him eating them when we visited his place before. What?!? I do not eat that too. Well, that was when I was young and my grandma does not buy it because there are way more options of fish available to choose from. But I tried eating it in my cousin's house and it is good.

It is fine if he had said in a different way. It was very offending because they are not elite if I may say. I do think that they are good fish to serve at home.

@Shavkat fish is fish. It is still food. Maybe he does not want people to look at him like he does not hae enough money to buy food. But GG sometimes is expensive as well

@rakski I think he is just being arrogant in all directions. I do hope that he will change. I bought a kilo of it yesterday. I do agree that it is pricey now as compared before.

I love galunggong especially lumpiang shanghai made with galunggong. It's simple fish but delicious when fried.

I also do the same thing for my puppy Cooper. There is nothing wrong if a person would not like to eat a particular food. He just need to be sensitive because it can hurt others for such statement from him.

@Shavkat Some do change with maturity and experience..but some might get worse. We can only hope that they do change for good.
