What would you do?

So, this man was seated on a bus while a full-term pregnant woman stands before him. You are also standing and you pity the woman because the man doesn't seem to consider giving her his seat. You're a woman too and you know how it feels to be standing there in that case. What would you do?

Unless I was really sick myself I would offer my seat up to her myself. And then quite frankly I would glare at the man and make pointed comments the rest of the way.

Remember, you are standing too with no seat to offer.

In my sweetest southern accent, I would say to the man, "Sugar, I'm sure you didn't notice that this lady who is clearly expecting a little one has no place to sit. If I were sitting I would be more than happy to give her my seat. But I know it's just an oversight that you haven't graciously given her your seat already.." Then if he ignored me, I put Jimbo on him.

You're funny too, Vicki, and so sweet. I am sure the man would heed your request. Who wouldn't when you said it so nicely? Paging, Jimbo @JimBo452020 , we need you here, in case it doesn't turn out well.

I inform the bus driver, it is mandatory to stand up and let elders AND pregnant women sit here.

@Jenaisle - A man who does not stand up to offer his seat to a pregnant woman deserves to be punished.

@TheHorse I know it should be, but why do other men make me feel it isn't? I may be exposed to the bad side of the male gender.

I don’t know what I could do. If I were standing I wouldn’t have a seat to give her. I would likely ask the man to give the lady his seat.

@Jenaisle I wouldn’t call it brave, but it would be trying to get the lady a seat.

I think I would be rather tempted to say (in a voice loud enough for the sitting inconsiderate man to hear) hey, sweetie, I would give you my seat, if I had one to give you. I remember well how hard the last month or so can be, waiting for your baby to arrive! Might be a tad naughty, but after all, if he isn't handicapped or in worse shape than she is, it's the right thing for him to do to give up his seat. On another note, I am proud to say I have witnessed my own sons give up seats for elderly or pregnant women in the past. Maybe the man had not been taught to do this, but that's doubtful. Most men would be kind enough to know that.

@MarieCoyle It is, I mumbled expletives under my breath, which I rarely do. It struck me hard when The Horse @TheHorse said, "Isn't that obvious"? So, I wanted to make it clear that it is not always the case in my country. You're right that in every country there are bad and good men. Thank you for saying that,

@Jenaisle It's just a constant worry and concern. People are often afraid to speak up about things now, not wanting to incite any violence.

@Jenaisle There are nice people everywhere, and there are also rude and mean people everywhere. It's not a reflection on your country, it happens here as well, and I am sure it does in other places. I would have truly struggled not to say something, sometimes it's hard not to.

About the only thing I could think of to do is loudly apologize to her that no one is willing to give her his/her seat, perhaps that would embarrass that man enough to get him to give up his seat.

This has happened to me before, or rather, i have encountered it. There was a pregnant lady on board the bus and no one seemed to bother to give up their seats for her. So, I waited. And true enough, after a few stops, somebody alighted and I dashed and put my bag on the empty seat to reserve it for her. I then called out to her gently and ushered her to the seat. The rest of them sitting just pretended to sleep or look unfazed.

You have a good heart. That's exactly what they do, pretend to be sleeping and be unaware of their surroundings. Isn't it nice to have been able to knock some sense into this poor excuse of a man? But I know you're not violent, so God bless you for your good deed.

I remember telling a man to "get the f*ck up and move" out of irritation for not getting up to give a pregnant woman a seat. I was particularly incensed that day due to anxiety, sensory overload and a very poor quality sleep the night before.

@Jenaisle what made it worse was that he looked right at her and moved which made it look like he was getting up but he was just readjusting his position to get comfortable. He looked at me and shrugged, only got up when a burly dude was like "oi get up and move d*ckhead" It isnt like there were heaps of people and he was pinned to his seat. He was just arrogant.
