Facebook Has Freaked Me Out and I'm Leaving There

I just re-joined Facebook two months or so ago after a five+ year hiatus.
Things were going along just fine and I was enjoying it until a couple of freaky things happened this week that concerned my privacy.
First, my settings were on private and friends only so I don't know how somebody from 25 years ago found me and sent me a message. That freaked me out.
Then this morning some moron who I don't know stole one of my photos of me and posted it on his own timeline. Who is this guy? How did he even see my account or my photo?
Oh and I forgot . . . I had responded to a public page and this guy private messages me and says, "My God, you're beautiful. I realize you're married but I feel like we were meant to be together. I hope you'll give me a chance and message me"
So no, no, no, I'm not having any of this and I've scheduled my account for deletion in 30 days.

I think it would be best to delete your account for your own safety and privacy. I do not use Facebook and I would not trust it because I have heard bad things about it.

I keep my stuff set to “friends only.” We have announcements on the putting tour pages regarding tournaments (that’s how I found out Columbus was canceled), but I don’t spend much time there anymore. It’s Mark Z’s little fascist world and I’m not living in it.

I am sorry Lou..I mean..I too had never had that problem.
But I did have one freak that I actually knew from here trying to talk to me..blocked him.
But Facebook is insidious when it comes to privacy.

@LouAvul, I have my FB account but I am not active there. I just go and check others activities silently. However, even if you have private account, but I think anyone can message you from outside though they can't see your profile unless you add them in your friends list. Earlier, the photos can be downloaded, I don't know what is there now. But if someone has used your photos, you can complain to the FB admin.
Nowadays, using social media become very hard. There is always doubt running in our mind. So, it is better to stop using it.

That's terrible. I would freak out too, if I were you. A year ago, I had a previous pen name that was used by another account, so I changed my name, and from then on, nothing happened. I hope it stays that way. I hope you could leave the site successfully.

i deleted my account too. i haven't experienced things like you did, sorry for that but felt heavy hearted there.
