Will they come back?

Since our plants are all grown in containers rather than lands, so they can not be so big. But there can be still a little fruits or flowers in the plants and that's a surprise.
Lately there is a bigger surprise. That's my dad found there was a nest in the plants, which you can see it from the arrow icon. It is my first time to see a nest in the reality. They had lived in the nest for some time but we had never noticed it yet. Actually we don't know when they come and when they go. Perhaps they left in winter and they haven't been here yet? Now there is only the nest left. My dad cleaned the extra leaves and then kept the nest well. The vines and leaves will be on the top and less rain drops to the nest. We hope the birds will come back again

But usually they won't come back. When I was little, I used to find bird nests that were empty and not used anymore until they broke. Usually such nests are only used once, if they need a place to lay their eggs they will make another new nest.

I hope they come back for the nest. I guess just as long as they weren't forced to leave to avoid harm. I remember one bird made a nest in a wreath right outside my dad's front door. One day, we looked inside the nest, and four little baby birds had their beaks wide open, and were just waiting on their mother.

@allknowing No, even we have cams in the roof, but we have never noticed that. Those birds must be small since the nest is small.

@youless They normally do not return to a used nest But surely it would have taken them a long time to build and use the nest and in that time did you not notice that activity?

Most birds don't use the same nest again after they've used it once. The nests fall apart in the rain/snow or other weather during the next year. The birds will build a new nest each year.

In the past I saw there would be nest under the roof in the countryside house. The nest will be there and the birds will come back next year.@DaddyEvil (174281)

@youless That can happen with some birds... but most abandon the nest they used and build a new one each year.

That does surprise you ! Maybe it was a makeshift nest and the mother bird just used it to hatch.when the baby birds grew up, they all flew away .
