I know that most people were buying fewer eggs for a little while. We were combing around in Saginaw one day last month and bought a dozen for $3.00 Yesterday, Jay purchased eggs and paid $2.00 for a dozen&1/2. That was an amazing price! The scare about birds or chickens being sick, I have no idea where this rumor came from. Was it true? I really don't know if it was or not. Anyway, my husband is always scouting for good buys. Then, he purchases expensive things, oh well! lol Photo: Mine from last week

Yes, the avian flu was real and the US destroyed millions of laying hens. That was what caused the price hike in eggs. We paid $1.89 for 18 eggs a few days ago.

@DaddyEvil Jay knows a lady that raises chickens and sells eggs. She sold him eggs about four times, over the past six months.

@kobesbuddy I have heard the horror stories on You Tube vlogs about the eggs shortage due to chickens falling ill.

Jay got a good deal on those eggs. We had scrambled eggs with mushrooms for our protein tonight.

Yes, it was true. Lots of chickens were lost because of the avian flu. That is a good price. Eggs are finally coming down here too.

@kobesbuddy I remember when they were that high. I'm glad they're coming down in price.

At one time, Jay was forced to pay $6 for a dozen. He finally found them in Saginaw for $3 and bought two dozen.

Eggs were expensive for a few weeks but they’re back to normal now.I heard it was a sickness among chickens, if so they recovered quickly.

It is very true, there is a disease that hits chicken and wild birds and it's a serious matter, it's not a rumor.

@kobesbuddy - It is the avian flu, that is the same as birds flu, but it has now passed to some mammals and there was a first case passed to a human in Spain.

They used to call it the bird flu, maybe it's something different this time.

That was an all right price. I remember I stopped buying eggs from Walmart when at the beginning of the year they had a price of about $6 for 18 eggs but now the price is down to a bit over $2,

We refused to buy those eggs, at high prices. I prayed those eggs would rot on their shelves! lol

I didn't follow the reasons behind the increase in egg prices. I only use one egg per day, so it did not stop me from buying them.

Yes, it wasn't a rumor. Farmers killed thousands of chickens because of the avian flu. It was such a shame.

That's a good price for eggs. Here, I have to pay $4 for 10 eggs imported from US or Japan.

@kobesbuddy We only have 1-2 farms raising chicken here. Most of our eggs are imported. Eggs from China are cheaper but the quality is not as good as those from US and Japan.
