Whine, whine, whine

Both my laptop and my desktop are having trouble. I will not go into details as it gets too long and I lose it.
I have written two very long posts about the situation only to have them get tangled up in the web so to speak and disappear.
My desktop cannot find its own hard drive. It actually says that it cannot find the driver for the controller of the hard drive. It has done this before then cleared up. I hope it thinks it over tonight and works for me tomorrow.
My laptop jumps and skips and things grow and shrink and get stuck open and I just had to restart it.
I think I am headed to bed. I want a blanky and a soft pillow.

@RebeccasFarm I hurt myself that night by using the wrong height table for the laptop and pinched my wrists so to speak.

You are shutting both machines off at least once a week, right? You turn them completely off and then turn them on again, right? It sounds like their short-term memory gets full and they have trouble "thinking".

My laptop stays shut off most of the time. No, I did not know to do that with the desk top. It is off right now and has been overnight. So far no improvement.

@DaddyEvil When this happened before that did help, but not now. I will get it fixed as it seems not too big a problem really.

@GardenGerty I'm sorry there's no improvement.
If shutting it all the way off and turning it back on doesn't fix the problem, I'd need to be there to check internal cables for a problem.

It is my desktop with the most trouble. I think if I were to get an external hard drive and clean up my laptop it would be okay.

I slept well. I hooked my mouse and keyboard to my laptop and it behaves about 75% better. Tomorrow I will be talking with computer repair people.
