So, when talking to another mylotter, she kind of encouraged me to share this story. Last month, my dad’s friend asked to borrow his pickup. My dad’s pickup isn’t the smallest, but is nowhere close to big. He bought it last year to haul things, and it is about 12 years old; he keeps it in great shape. Well, on the 2nd night of his friend having it, a really bad storm hit where his friend lived (it didn’t reach us), and his friend forgot to put the pickup in his garage to protect it.
Long story short, the windshield didn’t just get busted, but the hail was so bad the insurance declared my dad’s pickup to be totaled. The bad thing? The insurance would not reimburse him even though it was totaled (I won’t go into why not, but it’s something no one but maybe the insurance could have foreseen). His friend offered to pay for it all, which I thought was the right thing to do. My dad told him no, you don’t need to give me a dime. Which I thought was the wrong thing to do.
See, my dad has always wanted a pickup; he just couldn’t bring himself to spend money on himself to buy a nice one (a used pickup; he’d never be able to afford a new one).
Two days later, he gets a call from a different friend, one who had no knowledge of this happening. His friend says he wants to give something to my dad, and he will not accept no for an answer. It was a five year old, full size pickup. No joke! I could not believe it, and neither could my dad. I was so happy for him, and was amazed that by letting something go, he was blessed even more.
Anyway, thanks to that Mylotter for encouraging me to share that. I hope that brings a smile to your face like it did mine.

What a great story!!!! Congrats to your dad!!! God is great! He always protects us!
As for the insurance companies, I’m sure every one of us has some tiny print in our contracts that says something like “Not valid on days that end in “Y”.

@AmbiePam I think there is a clause that specifies that "acts of God" and "acts of war" are not covered and hail is an act of God. Does not make sense though. I am so glad you Dad was blessed with something better than he lost.

What a wonderful thing to happen for your Dad. In the end, his generosity came back in the form of a truck. I'm so glad for him, I love hearing about people being appreciated by others.

That is great news on the other friend giving your dad another truck and wanting nothing in return as for the other friend he should have paid it happened while he had it he should have put it in his garage.

That's a wonderful story. He was definitely blessed to receive the truck.. Insurance companies are terrible. They are only out for themselves. Have a good Sunday.
