Day 336 (Isaiah 53:1-12) Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For He will grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. We hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people, He was stricken. They made His grave with the wicked—but with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He will see His seed, He will prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. He will see the labor of His soul and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant will justify many, for He will bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, was numbered with the transgressors, bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Many people want someone else to take the blame for their actions. They will do whatever it takes to lay the fault on someone else. You see it start in young children who don’t want the punishment when they get caught. They will accuse their sibling or playmate. Parents know who caused the trouble. In Isaiah’s prophecy, God told him He would send His Son to die for the sins of the world, not because He did anything wrong, but because His people sinned. It was God’s pleasure to put His Son to death for everyone’s sin, because He was sinless. If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you know this passage and can probably quote it word for word, depending on the translation. You know this passage refers to Jesus who would redeem His people from their sin. It pleased God to make His Son a sacrifice for us. It caused Him great pleasure, not because He wanted to put His Son to death, but because He wanted His blood to atone for our sin. Only a sinless person could do that. Jesus was the sinless lamb, killed so we could live eternally with God in heaven. God outlined what would happen to His Son from His arrest to His death and burial. When Jesus rose from the dead, He sealed your salvation. You no longer live under Satan’s control, but live because you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord. It was God’s pleasure, His joy because it brought you into fellowship with Him. Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord? Have you said yes to His atoning sacrifice for your sin? If not, accept Him today. It will be the wisest decision you make, and you will know God’s intense pleasure as His child. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, as the atoning sacrifice for my sin. Thank you that I am no longer bound by my sin, but Jesus set me free from Satan’s bondage. Let me praise You every day for what Your Son did for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 14 June 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I am glad you have let the Lord use you to share His vital message. Thank you for sharing the gospel, and reminding us Christians we should do the same.
