Day 337
(Isaiah 55:6-13) Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and does not return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so will My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me void, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn will come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier will come up the myrtle tree; and it will be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that will not be cut off.”
Everyone looks for signs in what they do. They want to know they are on the right path to success.
God told Israel what signs to look for when He said His ways were higher than their ways. He told them what their eyes saw and what He would do instead. When He did it, it would be an everlasting sign.
God told Israel that just as the signs found in nature would do what it should, so too, His Word would accomplish its purpose. Nothing He said would return void.
Christians use these verses in salvation. They know God does not want anyone to perish without Him, but to come to salvation. God rejoices over every person who turns to Him and accepts His Son as their Savior and Lord.
You do not know God’s ways. They are higher than your thoughts can comprehend. You cannot comprehend His thoughts because they are past understanding. Yet, you have God’s Word to guide you and give you a glimpse of what He will do for you.
People have been compared to sheep who need to be led everywhere they go. Jesus is your Shepherd who leads you with joy and peace. Let Him lead you even when you do not understand where you are going. Let His signs guide you to the truth and bring you everlasting peace and joy.
Let’s pray: Father, lead me and I will follow. Show me Your ways, guide me with joy, and lead me with peace so that I will never stray from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
