Weeding is my morning workout

The past few days I've been weeding little by little in the front garden. The rains have turned some patches into a jungle of weeds. I could actually fill a bucket every time and I weed for only a good 30 minutes or so. I start weeding after I've eaten breakfast and washed the dishes.
I choose to squat while weeding instead of sit on a stool because I like to challenge myself that way. 
There's not much sun in the front garden in the morning so I'm able to do work without getting burnt. And I like that I get to sweat early in the morning. Sometimes the elderly neighbors would chat with me while I clear my garden.
There's also this long patch of weeds in front of our house (along the street) that needs to be cleared. I'll probably work on it over the weekend. And I have a backyard teeming with wild cucumbers. More work for me. Looking forward to that.

Truly. I wouldn't invest on a mower or anything since my front garden is just a small narrow strip. I'd rather work my body and get some sunshine too.

Thank you. These are wild cucumbers we have and the fruits are really small. A friend told me they're edible but I wouldn't eat them. I give them to our rabbits.

We've been getting rain every day this week so we can't mow our yard. The grass and weeds are getting tall so we really need to get the mowing, at least in front of the house, done soon.

I couldn't imagine what weeding would do to me now. I could barely move for a week after picking strawberries.

oh my i know what you mean. i tried picking strawberries a long time ago and my whole body ached. i was happy with my bowls of strawberries though.1 person likes this

It is hard work. I recently purchased a small hoe to help me uproot some deeply rooted plants and weeds.

Weeding is definitely a good workout. I remember my mom doing it with her garden. Now that I have my own, even with the mulch I lay down, weeds still appear. A thankless job (just kidding) but somebody has to do it.

Exactly. Someone has to do it. It's not my favorite gardening chore but it makes my garden look nice so I do it anyway.

True. It's the rainy season where I am. It gets a lot easier during the dry season when there's barely any weed growing.
