Final Planning

Well, I got my final planning taken care of today. I want to be cremated and called a few weeks back to check on prices and pre-financing. The nice lady gave me a price of $980. I thought that was great because back about thirty years ago when I did the business of the cremation for my mom the price was $1000. To have the price actually go down was a bit of a mind-boggler. So I called the lady back Tuesday and said I was ready to go forward and we made a date for this afternoon. She told me the price had actually gone up to $1200 but she would give me the amount she has originally given me. She was just here, I signed on the dotted line and then spoke to my daughter about the plan after the lady left. All is set.
I don't want to be buried. In life I am claustrophobic and so just the thought of my body being buried under 6 feet of dirt, and cement and then laying in a coffin just weirds me out something fierce. I guess the US cremation rate is 59.0% this year and is expected to be 65.2% in 2027. Over a million are cremated annually and 300,000 of those are scattered. I'm sure inquisitive minds were just dying for those stats.
What are your desires when that time comes?
I promise I will find something amusing to post about next.

I've told my family I want to be cremated, then they could flush my ashes if they want. I won't care after I'm gone.
I don't want any ceremony or viewing... just burn me up after I'm gone... The most basic type of cremation costs around $800 in Missouri. It's when you start adding other things like viewing, ceremonies, etc, that the price goes up.

@celticeagle My family always gets together for a dinner when someone passes away. Although, at the rate we're dying off, there may not be anyone left by the time I pass away. Out of 16 kids, there are only four of us left now.

@DaddyEvil .........Wow! That is a bit of a decline. I'm no longer in communication with my cousins so it is just the four of us left. Me, my daughter, granddaughter, and, grandson.

George and I have talked about it. We just have to sign up with the right people, and we'll likely not have to pay for it.

Love that doorway...
Um, I'd like to be cremated too, and have the ashes tucked in under the "grass blanket" of my parents' final resting place, but I haven't arranged anything yet.

The door signifies me not knowing for sure where I am headed after I pass.

@BarBaraPrz ...........I will be experiencing where a person goes who doesn't believe in God or heaven or hell per say.

We told the kids to do whatever is cheapest when the time comes. Right now that would be cremation.

Also, cremation because what is left behind is just a body my soul will be free and flying and I will be reunited with loved ones. I need to leave nothing behind,

If I knew for sure that we were going to stay in Ohio, I would pick out my casket and all the final rigamarole. It's good that you've thought ahead. This way you will get exactly what you want.

Yes, and the kids won't have any choices to make.

@celticeagle No kids; but I just don't want money spent on extraneous crap that is not necessary.
