Millions of people around the world were somewhat horrified at the events surrounding the submersible ( Titan) which went missing, then imploded deep in the North Atlantic sea killing all five occupants onboard.
I remember how anxious l felt when some days ago the news came that the Titan was missing and there was 48 hours of oxygen left aboard.
What about their family members and friends? Imagine their feelings.
Yet social media was awash with memes about the tragedy. How could people be so mean and uncaring?

A day after revelations that the Titan submersible imploded, officials are searching the ocean floor for evidence and determining who will be responsible for investigating the international disaster. The U.S. Coast Guard said Friday that a formal inquiry h

That is so wrong and they should have compassion for the families, What I do not understand is did they recover the bodies or did they burn up in the implosion?

@Kandae11 It seems this was an accident waiting to happen . . . this sub was not certified nor safe. I don't know what the people on board knew or didn't know . . . but yah, it was way too risky and I'm sorry it ended that way for them

@much2say l read that several trips were made over the past two years without a problem. James Cameron who directed the movie "Titanic" made several trips to the wreck years ago -- I am not sure what mode of transport he used.
Anyway, it did come out that the relevant authorities are very careful when it comes to space travel, but a bit lax about safety measures for sea travel.

I have not seen any of those memes and surely there was no reason for anyone to create them

Fortunately, from the reports, they did not suffer. It was over pretty quickly. And I agree, just because they were wealthy individuals, some choose to post cruel things about them. It is none of our business how much money they had. It was their choice to make. Not ours. They were human beings and they have grieving families left behind. Shame on all of them I say. And many here are included in that. This world is full of evil and unkind people. Sad they cannot see how hurtful their words can be. My thoughts are with the families.

While the men felt nothing when their underwater "vehicle" exploded, I am appalled by the insensitive memes circulating the internet for their families to see. For some reason, idiots think because they were rich, and spent a lot of money on this trip, they deserved to die, which is stupid.

Some people are mean and uncaring. I guess the other thing is it is a way to deal with their own anxiety about what happened. As for me, whatever the reason, I would not want to look like I thought it was funny in any way what happened.

I know that regardless of how rich l was l would never go down there - even for free. I suffer from claustrophobia and l have no desire to see the wreck of the Titanic. However there are adventurous people out there, who love doing things like that, we are not all the same.

I was glad when I discovered that they never knew they were going to die. But still, it must be terrible for their families.

From what I understand they were here 1 moment and gone the next, without any suffering or knowledge of what was happening.
My hubby explained it to me like crushing a tin can quickly, so I cannot imagine what they will find left.
For me it is sad that anyone would want to visit a water graveyard, which is what this is.
I understand the fascination with the Titanic, but it is also where many perished. We should all agree to let those souls rest in peace and not attempt to visit that place.

I would never , ever do something like that and l am sure there are many more like me. However we are not all the same, some people think differently, act differently, what rocks my boat might be poison for someone else. Imagine what a boring world it would be if everyone acted the same way, like robots. One of the members of that illfated group is a very distant relation to someone who was a passenger on the Titanic which sank many years ago - so l can understand (barely) why someone like him with an adventurous spirit would feel the urge to make the trip.
Having said that, what my topic is really about is the unkind memes and jokes which abounded before and after the implosion. Everyone , whether rich or poor makes choices that do not always turn out right. The families and friends of those five are hurting, a pain made worse by insensitive comments.

People these days are more interested in spicy news and care less for human lives.

I feel very sorry for the people who passed. RIP. Such kind of adventure is very risky.

I agree, I saw videos where people were laughing because they believed the rich people received what they deserved. This is really sad.
