Wow! This must be the longest title l have posted of late - do you favor long or short titles? Anyway, on to the topic which is about passion, age and retirement. First up is movie legend Clint Eastwood who at age 93 is embarking on directing duties on his 40th film ( as a Director) , this one is called "Juror # 2." You may recall some of his others which include: " Million Dollar Baby" and "Unforgiven". Some believe that this latest will be his last before 'hanging up his hat' - but who knows? He may go for number 41. Next up is 100- year -old Neurologist Dr. Howard Tucker who retired just two years ago ( he is still a consultant). He believes that "retirement is the enemy of longevity". And that when someone loves their job with a passion and delays retirement, it helps that person to stay young. He has been practicing medicine since 1947 and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest practicing doctor. What do you plan to do when you retire? Are you one of those persons who believe that retirement is the beginning of the end or the start of new and exciting horizons.? Pictured above is Dr Howard Tucker.

I do think it's best to still keep busy after one retires. It's nice that one can stop "working" and be relieved from the stresses attached to it, but it's better to keep active mentally, physically, socially, etc - whatever those activities may be.

I agree wholeheartedly. Retirement shouldn't mean being relegated to a rocking chair.

@Kandae11 Oh gosh, I sure wouldn't want to live out the rest of my days on a rocking chair . . . how boring that would be even if you were taken care of hand and foot!

Can women really retire? I do not think so, we have so many things to do all the day long even after we retire from our daily job. I like Clint Eastwood and I love many of the films he directed.

That is a profession you can be involved in for as long as you wish. In fact you can have your own beauty parlour.

Astronaut Jim Lovell is 95. I looked him up last night when I was watching Apollo 13. I didn't know he was still alive. He also has had a good long life. I retired at 62. It's the beginning of something new and exciting.

I am a retired person now you may say as I am without work. Lucky are those people who keep working and earning until the end of their lives.

You were a teacher? Teachers in my country are in high demand - even after retirement. Some may be recalled or decide to tutor students 2 or 3 days a week.

It is a good sign that they love their jobs so much they don’t want to retire. I am disabled, so my last job ended years ago. My dad plans to retire in five years when he is 73, but I honestly don’t think he’ll be able to retire because he’ll get too bored.

I don't think it has to be work. I think having a passion is important in retirement though for longevity purposes. It doesn't really matter what it is but something that has you involved is important.

That is certainly correct. One can engage in activities, previously hindered by a work load - like traveling, painting , handicraft , gardening etc.

I honestly don't think my current job will be my job until age of retirement. i can't imagine myself at 50+ still working in front of a computer.

@Kandae11 Right? I need to remind myself to take breaks from time to time since it's bad for the posture too.

No that won't be a good idea. It can be damaging working in front of a computer day after day, year after year....

I'm retired and I think I'm busier now than when I worked. That probably isn't entirely true but it feels like it. I'm constantly asking myself how I got so much done when I was working but probably I just had better time management. That's pretty amazing that Dr. Tucker is still consulting at 100 yeas old. Bless him and Clint Eastwood that they are still able to do all that they are doing at their ages.

I believe ìt when you say you are busier now. When one is at home a multitude of must be done tasks usually appear. Yes indeed, they are both very motivating.

I've seen people retire and they're like what do I do now! Even if you retire it's still best to be productive and they are well needed in helping the community. Kids, church. Food give aways and more. Great that he's still doing what he loves to do.

Clint Eastwood is still directing? It's great that he is still going so strong. I know William Shatner, who is 92 now, went into space in 2021 on a rocket of Jeff Bezo's, I was so happy for him and it really made me feel great about aging. Age is only numbers.
