A Good Joke Keeps the Doctor Away

This old fella from the mountains loved telling jokes and he always had a good one waiting to be told. Uncle Jimmy was everybody’s best friend and confident, and nobody loved a good joke better than he did. This is one of uncle Jimmy’s jokes. There was this fella called his doctor and said, Doctor I done fell off a ten foot ladder. Good Lord, the doctor said, how bad are you hurt? Are any bones broken? No sir, said the old fella. I only fell off the bottom rung. Hope all my friends are having a good day. We’ve had a heavy breeze with thunder and sprinkles of rain. The sun peeks out then the sprinkles start again. I ran out to walk while the sun was out but got sprinkled on while I was out. That’s all right. It felt good and cooling. Everyone have fun today.

The other day my grandson was telling me some things that had been going on, and then he told a story about how someone in his class passed gas every day, so now no one wanted to sit by this kid. He ranted about it and it just struck me as hilarious, and I had one of those good old fashioned belly laughs! We just don't laugh enough, you are so right, Ruby.

We had that same kind of day yesterday. My husband and I got up early for a doctor's appointment, then tok a nap when we got home, and I heard the rain when I was napping.
