We have a nasty neighbour here who will wait for their dog to make its demands He will bark away endlessly and finally someone will turn up and take care of its needs. It may want to go out, it may be hungry whatever. It is a nuisance to the neighbourhood if dogs keep barking that way. Instead if the owners can attend to their needs even before they make their demands it will be good for the dog and also good for the neighbours. Do you have a system that you follow in your life or are you living a haphazard life? Image Credit:

Things are on the mend here now but it will take some time. People are beginning to reallize that it is socially incorrectto let a dog bark.

@allknowing Luna only howls at planes. I think that the noise hurts her ears. And she barks at dogs if they come too near our house. But it is just a short, warning bark.

@marguicha Such barks are welcome but not those that beg for food and wanting to go out

It is easy to keep a dog from barking Dogs have reasons to bark specially if they are leashed. They need to go out, they feel hungry. And this can be taken care of if their demands are taken care of even before they start barking And barking at passers by can be checked if they are kept away from those sights.

I keep my sliding glass door open for Kitty. She has dry food all day and gets wet food every afternoon.

Same here. Food is kept for them to nibble as and when they feel like.

True there are dogs that need not bark to get what they need. I think they should train their dogs to do that. There are many ways to attract the attention of their owners so they get what they want.

The dogs around here only bark when someone walks by so that is a good thing.

They will never get into tantrums if their demands are met without them asking for them

My dog rarely barks, and I would put a stop to it if she did it a lot. I have no desire to annoy my neighbors as it seems you and others are. Recently, a letter carrier refused to deliver mail to a street where one resident lets their three chihuahuas run free. They said the dogs were a “menace”, and legally, if a mail carrier feels unsafe, they do not have to deliver the mail. Those people are furious with the post office because they were given no warning; suddenly, they just didn’t get their mail. Why the owner of those dogs doesn’t keep them in their yard, I’ll never understand.

I think this is stupid, specially dogs are the routine animals. Once a while there could be delays but, the approach you mentioned isn't healthy for them and is bad for training. I have been pet parent of a dog, and he is synched on timings... walks, food... everything!!!

Those barks are different from begging for attention
