We made it

The drive to Pocahontas State Park was pretty much a straight shot up I-95. It took a little less than 3 hours to get here, including a stop at the NC/VA state line to stretch our legs and visit the facilities. It was still sprinkling lightly when we left home, but the rain and storms we were worried about finding here in Virginia never materialized. What we ran into instead was a wall of heat and humidity to rival that back home. By the time we had the camper and Clam set up, I had sweated through a set of clothes. Thank goodness our rig has ac. I was probably on the verge of heat exhaustion when we sat down inside to take a rest break. We have a nice site. Neighbors aren't too close. Lots of shade most of the day. Room to have friends over when the rest of our club starts drifting in next Wednesday. In the meantime, we will be hiking, kayaking, and visiting some of the historic sites in the area. How was your Friday?

Heat exhaustion is no joke. Please be careful. It looks like you're in a nice spot. I hope you enjoy your time there.

As soon as I felt the symptoms, I went into the camper, sat down, drank nearly a liter of cold water, and ate some peanuts for the salt and protein. It is a nice spot. I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves.

@DaddyEvil I will probably get cramps right as I'm trying to go to sleep tonight.

@DWDavis I hope you don't get muscle cramps doing that. I always did and then drank a mouthful of dill pickle juice to stop the muscle cramps.

I hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly. My Friday was hot, and that’s about it.

I had a nice Friday. I’m sitting here with my feet up, watching the baseball scores and a live camera feed looking out into the Gulf of Mexico.

Friday was quiet here b/c the pool was green. Ugh. Your setup is nice but I wouldn't want to work that hard to set things up to relax. Camping doesn't appeal to me in the least even in a nice RV like you have.

The pool is STILL green. Do they have any idea when they might get it cured?

This place sounds beautiful and peaceful. Be careful, heat exhaustion is dangerous. Sit down and rest.
