Chinese Food?

The world's earliest "restaurants" originated in the Song dynasty in China in the 11th and 12th centuries. Prior to that street food was popular. There are many regional, religious and ethnic styles of Chinese food within China and abroad.
American Chinese food has typical foods such as Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon, Won Ton Soup, Fried Rice, Pork Lo Mein, Chicken Chop Suey, Beef Chow Mein, General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Beef Subgum, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Egg Foo Young and so much more.
I remember getting Chinese food back in the 60s. Chinese restaurants used MSG (monosodium glutamate) in those days; and I used to get Chinese Restaurant Syndrome. My face would go numb. I haven't noticed it in recent years; so I'm assuming restaurants don't use it or don't use it as heavily anymore.
My all-time favorite dishes are Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. I always order them mild.
What about you? Do you like Chinese food? What are your favorites? Do you use chopsticks?

We enjoy Chinese food on occasion.
Last evening we got home and neither of us was terribly hungry, but I needed to have something for us to nibble on or we would wait until we were really hungry and make a poor meal choice.
I placed an order for beef and broccoli, which we both love.
We just picked at it and I just told my hubby that I will probably be able to pick at it all week to reheat for my lunches.

I am fond of Chinese food and could eat some every day but I cannot afford to order for delivery, Now and then I could probably walk to the Chinese place and get some I will see,

You are right that MSG is used much less in the United States now, due to the side effects (which some dispute, of course) it has demonstrated over the decades.
I love Chinese food, especially orange chicken, beef lo mein, and crab rangoons. I could eat crab rangoons for a long period of time, and probably not get tired of them.

We love Chinese food. This country has too many Chinese food including the fast food ones. But I prefer going to an authentic Chinese restaurant. Not a fan of Peking duck but I love spring rolls and dumplings. Oh and their fried rice.

@LindaOHio I do when I can get them. Oddly enough, the restaurant where we usually get our food from doesn't offer them.

I love Chinese food! MSG is still used these days . . . but I'm glad at many Asian restaurants you can request for them to not use MSG in your order. My family and I get migraine-like headaches from it. I will pretty much eat any Chinese food - you name it
. . . I at least need my rice

I like Americanized Chinese food like cashew chicken and egg rolls but am not a fan of MSG. Some Chinese restaurants still use it in my part of the US.
If you're ever in the Midwest, order Springfield style cashew chicken. It's delicious.

There was this Chinese all-u-can-eat buffet right near my office at my previous job that I would frequent regularly for lunch. The Chines girls that worked in their as hostesses and waitresses couldn’t speak a word of English, but they sure knew my name as soon as I’d walk in the door. I felt like Norm from the tv series Cheers.

I can use chopsticks, but I prefer not to. I am American enough to just want a fork.
I really like some Chinese dishes. Yes, Orange Chicken is very good, and so is the General's Chicken--not spicy is right! The spicy one will knock me over. However, since this weight loss journey I track calories, and I was simply shocked to see how many calories those 2 dishes contain--nearly 1700 calories for Orange Chicken take-out!! I don't go over 1200 calories in a day. I guess I could eat half one day and half the next,,,. I might have one sometime on a designated treat day. So many things are so fattening and yet so yummy. Ugh.

Until I got serious about weight loss, I don't think I ever realized just how full of fat and calories some of this stuff really is, Linda.

Love Chinese foods, especially sweet and sour chicken or prawns - I'm rubbish with chopsticks - always get cuttlery. Only Chopsticks I like are the music version.

Thank you and I have to finish up a little more packing for tonight and brush my teeth and go to bed. My day is almost over. It is actually nighttime here and I miss egg rolls. I do not go to that food court because of too many people around so I do not have egg rolls. I would like Mexican food soon and will try and get it and something else too.
