The knee scooter was great. It got her around easily while we were at appointments, etc. But in the house, hopping on one leg and crawling up and down the stairs on her knees and butt had reached its limit. Her left leg was so fatigued, she couldn't even lift herself on it. So, she now has this and she can move around the house almost like before she was hurt. Yes, she has crutches, but there just isn't enough room in here to use them. And they can't be used on stairs. With this hands-free crutch she can move freely and still have both hands available. She'd better enjoy it because once she has surgery, she can't get out of bed at all for two weeks except for using the toilet (and that will be via a portable camping toilet next to her bed.)

I’m glad it works well for her. When I broke my ankle, I just never could get used to the knee scooter. They cleared me for a “boot”, which was easier on me. But I imagine with all that damage she probably can’t even wear a boot. It’s got to be difficult for you to see her struggle.

She's having surgery on Thursday. She'll be 100% bedridden for two weeks. They told her that any movement after the kind of surgery she'll be having could cause her to require skin grafts. There will be no cast or boot until they confirm her healing is moving along properly. Then she'll have a full cast that she won't be able walk on immediately. The knee crutch will still be needed for a while. I just don't know how we'll get her up to her room when she comes home from the hospital.

Try to focus on positive aspects such as the fact that you have the solution to moving around your house

That looks pretty cool and much better than crutches.

Glad that the knee crutch can help her. I wish her all the very best because I know how difficult it will be after surgery,
