Gosh he has a good memory!

I just called my local garage to book my car in for an MOT test. In the UK all vehicles over three years old have to have a test of ‘roadworthiness’ to check brakes, lights etc. once a year. Without the test certificate, your insurance is not valid either, so it’s quite important not to forget – and because mine falls due at the end of August during the school holidays it’s all too easy to forget all about it and go away somewhere! So I thought this time I would be more organised and book now for next month. I called the garage and the man (whose name I can’t remember, I’m embarrassed to say) said ‘Oh yes is it Fleur?’ Have you still got the Skoda? And have you had any more issues since the problem with the brakes last year? Now I wouldn’t be all that surprised if they remembered my car when I got there, it is quite memorable, but just from my voice on the ‘phone I was quite taken aback. I generally only go there once a year as I give my car its routine oil and filter change myself. Either he has an amazing memory or they have very few customers – and I know it isn’t the latter because when I do get there it’s difficult to find a space to leave the car because they’re so busy!
