A heartfelt THANK YOU for all of the kind wishes as I endured the colonoscopy (more specifically, the prep). So….that’s that for three years.
Yes, it’s down to three now instead of five. “Thanks, Mom.” Mom had polyps. My brother has polyps. My uncle and grandfather had colon cancer (both successfully treated in an early stage). And now I have polyps.
Family history is positively negative in the colon department.
But you know? I’m not complaining. Yesterday (which is the bad part of a colonoscopy) went by smoothly (as much as possible) and quickly (thanks in no small part to y’all!
). And, of course, you sleep through the actual procedure, so that’s no problem at all.
I woke up, throwing country music history (verbally) at the nurse. I’m sure she wanted to hear it like she wanted a hole in the head, but at least it proved I was back in the “real world.” She brought me a Diet Coke to sip (and, after not drinking anything after about 4 AM, that flavorless garbage tasted great). It wasn’t long before I got the results, the notification to call in two weeks for the pathology report on the polyps, and a ride in a wheelchair to the front door, where my brother was waiting to take me home.
I’ve had a nice nap (between severe thunderstorms
); and, most importantly, FOOD!!!!!!!!! That infamous potato soup hit the spot this evening…so much better than plain old chicken broth yesterday.
The weather, as of right now, seems uncertain for Thursday. I’ll check the forecast again tomorrow, but I might have to wait until Friday to take off for Ohio.
The photo is my trip two years ago out west. That’s Devils Tower behind me. Yes, it does look like a pile of mashed potatoes with gravy running down the sides.
It was absolutely gorgeous, as was all of Wyoming that I saw.
Y’all have a lovely evening, and again, thank you so much for your concerns, prayers, thoughts, and well-wishes over the past couple of days!!!

It's a lovely photo. I hope you get to start your trip on Thursday. (We're supposed to have storms on Thursday. 70% chance, at least.)
I wasn't coherent when I came to after having a colonoscopy. I don't remember much except telling a male nurse that I hurt... (they trapped a hair in some stitches.) And waking up a couple of days later at home, confined to my bed. The doctor had removed a slice like a slice of cantaloupe and I couldn't walk for almost a week and moved slow and careful for a month after I was allowed to get out of bed.

@sallypup Thanks. It had to be done, I guess, but I don't want to do another colonoscopy again.

@DWDavis — they can keep him. I really don’t care for him as an actor.

@FourWalls Of course not. They haven't brought him back yet. Well, not that version of him anyway.

Yes, as you said, the prep is the worst part. Glad you survived.
Why would they give you diet pop? If I remember correctly (it was a decade or two since I last had one) they gave me orange juice and a plain cookie after.

@FourWalls So, you like "flavorless garbage"?

I asked for it. I didn’t want “regular” soda.

@BarBaraPrz —
no, but being thirsty after nothing to drink for six hours, anything was good.

@FourWalls Oh I'll bet. And I've only seen pics . . . there is a HUGE difference in seeing it all right in front of you. I'm glad you've gotten to witness some magnificent beauty of our country!!

@much2say — the diverse beauty of God’s creation is so amazing, and I’m so thankful to get to see it “up close and personal.”

The landscape in the west is so completely different from what we have here in the southeast. I was weeping for joy in Badlands, because it was so incredibly beautiful. Plus, I was there near sunset, so it was even MORE gorgeous.

Of course we were concerned. It's YOU after all! Yes! Close Encounters of the Third Kind as soon as I saw the picture. So cool. When you do take off for Ohio, drive safely. We're supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow and possibly Friday. Enjoy your day.

Still watching the weather. Our local meteorologist who does a live chat every day is on vacation now, and I feel lost.

@LindaOHio — we had a few viaducts fill up quickly, but no major flooding. The danger is for western and southern Kentucky.

@FourWalls Well, meteorologist Linda says be careful because there are thunderstorms coming. You didn't get any of the flooding, did you???

Glad you survived your cololnoscopy. No more of those fun things for me. Thank God we don't have a history of colon cancer in the fam. We camped one time at the base of Devils Tower. It was very humid, and the next night in SD there was a tornado.

It was very hot when I was there, but the humidity was nothing. Seriously! I had my weather radio on and it said the temp was 90 and the humidity was 19%. I thought I had to have misunderstood them, but the next town over was 91 with 17% humidity.

Thank you. I’m praying for you to have good results in your treatments, too! It’s such a humbling blessing to know someone lifted me up in prayer. Hope you feel that way as well.
