The last vestige of Twitter has been removed from the site. In place of the Blue Bird, there is now a stylized X. It looks as foolish as it sounds. The jokes on X today all revolved around what the X is supposed to mean and what are posts to the site going to be called. As to the first question, I took a math teacher's approach. In algebra, X and mean nothing, or it can mean anything. Regarding the second question, my suggestion was to use the phrase "Posts formerly known as Tweets" for what we will call posts X. Some other suggestions were: X-rays Xceptions Xcitements Musk's own missives on the site should be labeled Xcrement. Jack whatisname, the guy who invented Twitter, doesn't care one way or the other. He's sitting on billions of dollars from the sale to Musk. Why should he? Were you on Twitter? Will you stay on X? Perhaps you should. After all, X marks the spot.

I've never used Twitter and I can't see myself using X either. But whenever stuff like this changes, it doesn't take long before the jokes/puns start poring in. People are so clever sometimes.

I'm waiting for Microsoft to sue Musk for trademark infringement. MS holds the trademark for the letter X.

@JudyEv I saw an article today that claimed Meta (Facebook/Instagram/Threads) owns the right to use the letter X for social media purposes. It should be interesting to see where this goes. Can anyone really own the letter X?

I use it to network with writers and agents and to promote my books.

@DWDavis I promoted my articles on other sites at that time. It did help with views.

I was on twitter, didn't use it all that much, but then deleted it altogether when Musk messed everything up. He's just making things worse and worse... This X thing is ridiculous.

@DWDavis I wouldn't know, haven't used it. I think the worst thing is the fact that you can buy your verification now. Anyone can just pretend to be anyone. I don't really care all that much. It just all seems so stupid.

The worst thing about what Musk has done to Twitter is that all the Twitter replacements that have sprung up are awful. Even Threads isn't an improvement on broken Twitter.

I have stayed out of Twitter myself, but I have read/seen many tweets for whatever reason. I don't understand this whole X thing . . . sounds like a dumb move to me . . . maybe X will one day be an eX social media platform.

@DWDavis This morning Hubby reminded me of SpaceX . . . so ok now I see where this is going, maybe. With his son being X, is this a for the sake of legacy kind of thing? I dunno . . . it's all just weird.

Allegedly, rebranding Twitter to X is part of Musk's plan to build a global powerhouse of online services based on the X brand. You know he named his son X. No, I'm not kidding.

Original posts are still being called Tweets. At least the button to submit them is still labeled Tweet. I guess the Muskrat hadn't thought that through.

If I didn't use it to network and promote my books, I wouldn't stay on it. Despite everything, it is still useful for those two things. I just block every idjit from either side of the political spectrum I see.

I haven't used Twitter in years; and I don't like the changes Musk has made. Enjoy your day.
