Day 22 Zechariah 10:1 Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, and grass in the field for everyone. 2 For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore, the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. 3 “My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the goatherds. For the LORD of hosts will visit His flock, the house of Judah, and will make them as His royal horse in the battle. 4 From him comes the cornerstone, the tent peg, the battle bow, and every ruler together. 5 They will be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They will fight because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses will be put to shame. 6 I will strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back because I have mercy on them. They will be as though I had not cast them aside; for I am the LORD their God, and I will hear them. 7 Those of Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their heart will rejoice as if with wine. Yes, their children will see it and be glad; their hearts will rejoice in the LORD. 8 I will whistle for them and gather them, for I will redeem them; and they will increase as they once increased. 9 I will plant them among the people, and they will remember Me in far countries; they will live, together with their children, and they will return. 10 I will also bring them back from the land of Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon until no more room is found for them. 11 He will pass through the sea with affliction and strike the waves of the sea: all the depths of the river will dry up. Then the pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart. 12 So I will strengthen them in the LORD, and they will walk up and down in His name,” says the LORD. When people go from crisis to crisis, they hope for good days of laughter and joy when everything will be well with them again. People don’t want to live in misery and hardship. They want to enjoy the goodness in their lives. God gave Judah hope when He told them He would bring them home from the captivity where He sent them. They would rejoice and be glad because He would redeem them and increase them as they once were until the land couldn’t hold them. He told them He would destroy Assyria and Egypt would have no hold over them. He would strengthen them, and they would walk up and down in His name. You know God fulfilled this prophecy when He brought His people back from captivity. Not only did they return from their captivity, but they also returned to their God. Never again would God send them into captivity because of disobedience. In 1948 the United States was the first country to recognize Israel as a nation. As Christians, your hope is in God and Jesus, your Savior. God will defend you the same as He does His chosen people. He will bring you out of trouble and destroy your enemy. Your enemy isn’t the people who come against you. Your enemy is Satan who causes people to come against you to destroy you. Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (NKJV) When you realize who your enemy is, you will stop coming against people. Instead, you will turn your warfare against Satan to destroy his work in your life. You will stand in your armor and God will fight for you, tearing down every stronghold and thwarting every scheme he brings against you until he flees in defeat. Jesus defeated Satan on the cross and destroyed his work in your life with His resurrection. He set you free from bondage when you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Rejoice because Satan has no claim over you. Shout for joy when you see your enemy flee, and praise God for His victory in your life. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Jesus to destroy Satan’s work in my life. Let me rejoice in my salvation because You set me free. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
