Cooking more now

Since my daughter's fall and injury, I've cooked more meals (more like fast food meals) than I had in quite a while. Most recently, I got fresh ground beef and made hamburgers - twice. The photo is my own sandwich with potato salad. My daughter's also had tomato and lettuce and no cheese. I need to go out and get something started for today. Because of her being mostly stuck in her room, she can't really do as readily as she did previously. I've also been making trips up and down the stairs more than I normally do. Can't use my cane on stairs, so it stays downstairs while I'm upstairs. But, I need to put something together to have for when she's ready. She keeps snacks in her room, so she's usually not hungry until later.

You are certainly getting your exercise. I’m sure she appreciates your help.

I think she does. She joked at the beginning that she'll gain weight while I'll lose it.

@Anqaya Planning on a type of stew today to have with mashed potatoes. Basically ground beef, peas, carrots and gravy together.

Good exercise never hurt anyone and your burger looks delicious! (I'll eat a burger with lettuce and tomato on it but prefer just cheese, mayo and ketchup.)

Since I rarely exercise, it's a good thing.

@jerzgirl I understand. The most exercise I've been getting is cleaning up all the limbs taken down in the storms lately. Oh, and mowing the yard.

I hope you have hand railings on both sides of the stairs. I have major leg issues so I finally found a guy to instlall a railing on the left side of the steepest part of the stairs. Take care.

Only one handrail. But, I make sure I'm holding on to it the entire way.

@sallypup I fell off some front steps back in 2008 while carrying a slow cooker and broke my ankle. I haven't carried anything with two hands since. And those steps had no railing at all.

@jerzgirl That's good that you have a good grip on that hand rail. When we first moved to our house and did not have that railing on both sides, my hubby went ahead of me as we went down the stairs. I held onto him until we got to the ground floor. Scared the life out of me.

I hope that you are ok going up and down those steps without your cane. I cook at home most of the time as we can't afford to go out except maybe twice a month...also depends on how good my PayPal is doing.

I'm steadier without it. I don't generally use it in the house because I have so many things I can hold on to as I walk. I only use it in the house if I've been sitting for a while, my legs are really stiff, so I need help then until the stiffness is gone.

I've never liked to cook and struggled for years to make tasty meals. I've gotten better, but it took 40 years.
