Surrounded by sunshine

We took Dixie, the Border Collie, for a walk yesterday and walked round a canola crop. There are hundreds of acres sown to canola in the district and sometimes it’s yellow as far as the eye can see.
Vince wanted a photo of me in the crop but we couldn’t persuade Dixie to join me. The stalks of the canola are very harsh, more like thick twigs.and once it ripens, we’ve been told the crop has an unpleasant smell. However, if the farmers have a good season, they will make a mint from their efforts so a bit of smell won’t worry them.
PS: Don't you just love the clouds?

It's a lovely photo but the pollen there would probably kill me. I don't blame Dixie for not wanting to join you in the field.

@JudyEv I said it's a beautiful photo. I just wouldn't go into the field.

@DaddyEvil I do understand. I'm sure having allergies/hay fever isn't a bundle of fun.

Yes, those clouds are just beautiful. Who's in the middle of the canola? Is that you?

@JudyEv in the springtime, all our farm fields aoutside of the city are covered in yellow flowers, but it’s not canola. I’m not sure what they are exactly, but it’s some type of wildflower.
There’s also a few fields nearby that grow lavender, so it’s always so beautiful to see those fields covered in color.

@moffittjc In France, the yellow fields were of sunflowers. They were beautiful too.

@JudyEv In my country there are also canola fields in some places. Besides they are crops, actually they can be a good place to take photos. My husband's hometown also has a lot of canola fields in spring. Many people go there to take photos every year.

I do and the fields are quite strking. That pic reminds me that sunflowers will be ready here soon. There is a place near here where you pay an admission fee and you can cut all of them you wish. We went a few years ago. Maybe it is time for a return trip

I wonder why they let the public pick them rather than harvest them. Perhaps there isn't much of a market for them at the moment.

What a great photo. My husband would be in bad shape from all that pollen! Enjoy your day.
