Clear Channel Memo Songs: Jump

Welcome to another one that I “get” as to why it showed up on Clear Channel Communications’ memorandum, listing songs that might have been considered inappropriate after 9/11. Then again, there were inconsistencies. But whatever. I actually do like this song. Jump - Van Halen Now, I understand the hesitancy to include this. As I mentioned with the Tom Petty song, the sight of people opting to leap from the upper floors was — and still is — the most disquieting visual of that awful day. Clear Channel thought that, too. Third Eye Blind’s “Jumper” was also on the list. However, the 1984 hit by the Pointer Sisters “Jump (for My Love)” was NOT on the list. Oh well. While I generally prefer Sam Halen, I do like this tune a lot. As long as I have the audio only or the video playing in the background where I don’t have to watch David Lee Camerahog, it’s fine. That’s a shame, too, because Eddie was just so cute (see video screen grab) in that video!
