My Thoughts on the S Word

My grandson came into my room the other day and asked me a question. I immediately answered it and wondered why in the world he didn't already know the answer. It is not like he has never been called into my room at all hours to remove or kill one of the horrible black, eight-legged horrors. Yes, spiders! Now I said the word. I can't stand them. He asked which I liked least flying bugs or spiders. He was trying to make a point. That keeping spiders alive was actually a good thing because they get rid of flying bugs. True enough but my reply was this: Yeah, but we don't have to see those black, eight-legged horrors for them to do their jobs. I once kept one eye open for X number of hours until someone in the family woke up and could rid me of the spider on my ceiling. I couldn't close my eyes for fear it would come right down to me. Eew. Ugh!

My husband isn't a fan of spiders, either. But we don't have to worry to much about them.

In the house, Pretty screams until I go kill the spider she's found. If we're outside, she's fine with them as long as they aren't on her. (I will jump and yell if a spider gets on me, too.)

@celticeagle Pretty won't help me if a spider gets on me. She's too scared of them to do that.

When I occasionally see a spider I take a napkin to pick it up and put it outside. A wasp or hornet I would be scared of. I’d probably swat those.

@celticeagle I like to watch spiders spin their webs, especially writing spiders.

I don't allow spiders at home. I pull them with a vaccum cleaner. Regular use of vaccum cleaner drives them away.

@celticeagle Yes, or else they make the house dirty and are the cause of infectious disease.

If you cannot stand spiders then you should see the huge flying roaches we have here. After seeing one of those a little bitty spider might not seem like much but I also hate spiders,

My BFF lived in Texas for a while and she told me some stories about how big the bugs are down that way. Ugh!

I don't like them but I don't kill them I catch them with a glass and paper. My issue at the moment is wool/cotton eating moths. They've eaten patches of my carpet and there are holes in some old clothes. My landlord said he'll have to get me a new carpet...then he said he'll re do my kitchen That being said, 2 years ago he said he'll have to raise the rent which hasn't happened as yet and I've been here since 2016

Moths aren't nice. They like to eat that's for sure. Did your landlord ever do what he said he would? Hasn't raised the rent since 2016. You are lucky!

@celticeagle no, he hasnt got the new carpet or kitchen and I'm not reminding him as then he will surely raise the rent. I am really lucky as the street I live on is one of the nicest areas in the whole city and the rent us really low, I think he just wants good tenants who will stay a long time.
