I'll never go to Miracle Ear now!!

So, I just canceled my hearing test with Miracle Ear for Monday because they flat out refuse to tell me what insurance they accept unless I sign a HIPAA form. HIPAA doesn’t prevent them from telling me what insurances they accept. It prevents them from giving my private information to other people. Since I haven’t given them my private information yet, there should be no reason to refuse to tell me over the phone what insurance they accept. I don’t care if it’s a free hearing test. I care that they are acting sketchy by refusing to tell me what insurance they accept without a HIPAA form. So, yeah, I won’t be going to them. My daughter's going to be mad. She wants my hearing checked. I'll get it checked. Just not with them.

That sounds like a scam. The easier way is to look up your insurance company online and see what they cover.

They're a very well known company, but I don't think people know they behave like this. They need to know. My insurance website confuses me. Sometimes I find things and other times I don't. But, not all medical facilities carry all insurances - so even if my insurance covers hearing aids and tests, that doesn't mean that particular place accepts my insurance. That's all I wanted to know. How flipping hard is it to give an answer without me signing anything!??

Unfortunately, looking them up online won't always give you the correct information.
We looked our insurance up online and then called them to make sure they pay for dental crowns. We were told they did... but the dentist(s) insists the insurance WON'T pay for dental crowns so I'll have to pay for it before the dentist will work on my tooth. (We've tried three dentists in our area and were told the same thing each time.)

I don't blame you. That sounds like a scam to me, too.

What differences does it make if they tell you what insurance they take. I would not use them either.
