Paper Vs. Online Diary?

When I was younger, I love keeping a diary. But I had no privacy in our family home. Even my aunts and uncles would cheer on my parents to snoop. After an incident, I burned all my diaries and vowed never to have one again.
Now that I am older, I keep a journal. Sometimes, I would just write what happened during the day on my planner, like a one-liner description and then I can look back on it. During the move, I found my planner from 2013 and I saw the entries that I made when my husband and I were just dating, what we did and where we went. I showed that to him and being a sentimental fool like me, he encouraged me to keep it and keep a diary or journal if I wanted to. This time, I know that there will be no one snooping on my personal stuff.
I now have 5 books of journals, with about 800+ entries of my days. When moving, they kind of a pain to pack, secure and transport. It made me think of keeping an online diary instead, but I can't seem to make up my mind.
What do you prefer: a paper or online diary/journal? Do you keep a diary/journal?

I kept a journal all through my teens years, but threw them away when I was eighteen. I was going overseas, and if something happened, I didn't want my parents to find and read them. They revealed how sad I had been growing up, and if I had happened to die in a plane crash, I didn't want them to feel badly about what I had written.
Then, when I was 25, and my 46 year old mother was diagnosed with dementia I started keeping a Gratitude Journal that also started serving as a journal about every day things. I think it helped me cope.
It must have hurt to have family snoop through your private thoughts. I am sorry that was something you experienced.

Yeah, totally traumatized me and I felt betrayed. At times, when I feel like I cannot talk about my thoughts and feelings to someone else, a diary is a safe outlet for me. I think I will continue to write one, and I will most likely take it online.
