Out of all the Filipino Folk songs from the Luzon Lowlands in the Philippines, "Magtanim ay Di Biro" (Planting Rice is Never Fun) is the one that I like best. It reflects on how hard farmers work every day and their importance to us. The lyrics tell us how much they've sacrificed for us to have food and that we should appreciate them as well.

So this song is well known in your part of the world? I like that something has been passed on to the younger people demonstrating how hard people have to work to put food on the table. It gives a real appreciation I think people in my part of the world really lack. Well, not all of my country. The people in middle America appreciate and respect hard work greatly. That’s not to say people on the coasts do not, but more people in mid America do than anywhere else in the United States.
